Working with @mumsforlungs.bsky.social @globalactionplan.bsky.social & more, I've learned how much wood burning stoves contribute to air pollution. & how low awareness of this link + health harms are. Including as part of future energy efficient/ low carbon heating standards is a missed opportunity.

To all the people saying, "it's cheaper", no it isn't, unless you have your own supply. Which is one reason why wood burning is predominantly done by wealthy or middle class people, poisoning themselves and poisoning others. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Thank you @georgemonbiot.bsky.social and @drgaryfuller.bsky.social for bringing attention to the deadly pollution pumped out by wood burning stoves - Including those described as 'EcoDesign'. 🔥 We can only reduce UK #AirPollution to livable levels by reversing the trend of burning wood at home.

AWAIR monitor at @impurbanhealth.bsky.social offices hits 10 for the first time this year @andygrieveair.bsky.social This shows that even though policies like ULEZ have delivered cleaner air, we are still vulnerable to toxic air pollution and the knock on health impacts. Further action is needed!
