My mind is clear sadly. I had assumed if I pointed out the process and result was unfair, my boss of 5 years would agree and try to rectify the situation. Instead she showed her true colors. i'm a side project and she doesn't invest more time/energy than needed. Leaving me to solve the rest myself

Practically, getting a PhD means meeting the requirements of your committee. Even if they mess up, it's their final say on whether you did enough. As long as their ask isn't absurd, they can condition whatever they want. all its really done is burn the bridge between me and my professor
