i cant help but find it funny in splatoon when people will refer to any and all weapons as "gun" and u look at it and it's just

a teal-colored hissen, or japanese multi-sectioned paintbrush washing bucket. the splatoon 3 tri-slosher is modelled after this kind of bucket

i think rpd sword synergy is still super strong , maybe subbing the shooter for a cycle could be the way since it still paints good when it has to ( same with tri )

i think it’s the playstyle the weapon lends itself to ( dive ) that i moreso am struggling to not only help people understand in stuff like pickups , but also find people competent enough to actually play .

000

roxy :3 // rpd otp @roxymoron.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

rapid requires the whole team to not only know what that looks like but actually be GOOD at it lmao , sometimes i do a poor job at it which again is something that i cant complain abt since i can control that , but when it proves that the more consistent issue is the stuff i cant control i get upset

100

roxy :3 // rpd otp @roxymoron.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

it’s mostly just walk forward simulator tbh but in my own ( bad ) practice i either mess up my spacing or my team doesn’t walk , the spacing thing is smth im always working on and am accountable for but like … we gotta fight in front of the rapid that’s how the weapon works and it’s super strong

000

roxy :3 // rpd otp @roxymoron.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

the issue is never the weapons i’m playing with its usually that the players simply aren’t good enough to make rapid remotely worth playing since they don’t really do much . i don’t want the soloq and pickup grinding experience playing a weapon that i don’t love since id rather do smth else atp .

100

roxy :3 // rpd otp @roxymoron.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

you’d be really fuckin surprised how often my frontlines are losing their fights really badly , not comming anything even remotely important ( or more likely not comming at all ) , not responding to my comms , not taking the space the team is creating even close to the speed we have to , etc …

100

roxy :3 // rpd otp @roxymoron.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

i really need to play w ppl who know how to play around rapid / go forward and kill things while letting me shotcall , but i feel so guilty expecting what’s apparently too hard … it’s so frustrating , i hate having to do so much on my own just to not really make progress …

recently realized that lobstar is named lobstar bc of the japanese name for range ( long blaster , and the “ L “ can be said as “ r “ in jp ) since they sound similar 🧘‍♀️

note to self but you’re a good ass coach and whenever you do da coaching more than obsessing over tryna be a better player you magically play better waowwwwwwwww

roxy :3 // rpd otp @roxymoron.bsky.social · 18/09/2026

do u have a coach ? i really think i could help w a lot of the stuff you say ur struggling with ( im a bum with no capture card tho )

120

roxy :3 // rpd otp @roxymoron.bsky.social · 18/09/2026

then work on it girl !! don’t focus on the win or even ur xp bc a good player gets a good xp , not the other way around ( “ a good xp makes a player good “ ) . you can always get better that’s kinda the point of comp splatoon anyway lol you’re competing to get better bc that’s what’s fun for u

120

roxy :3 // rpd otp @roxymoron.bsky.social · 18/09/2026

was watching some of ur clips and you def seem to have good mechs for frontline hydra so im wondering what you feel is holding you back

110

roxy :3 // rpd otp @roxymoron.bsky.social · 18/09/2026

the more you think about the win or something superficial like that , the harder it is to get from my experience at least . if you spend ur time thinking about learning your playstyle instead of just winning you’ll go a long way , i personally gotta do the same i js think im ass so i stay ass lol

110

roxy :3 // rpd otp @roxymoron.bsky.social · 18/09/2026

i’m in the same boat girlie , ur xp is definitely gonna dip with this approach BUT this season everything seems out of wack anyway so i’ll suggest it : try ur best to just do what you want ( which i assume is walk em down hydra ) . ignore ur xp but do vod review and just try to refine ur style

roxy :3 // rpd otp @roxymoron.bsky.social · 18/09/2026

i’ve only seen u play hydra and walk forward with it so try to just maximize ur understanding of that unorthodox playstyle , invest ur time into figuring out how to do that better and when not to do it etc etc , it’s hard bc idk if many players have tips or do this in a comp setting but i believe

110

roxy :3 // rpd otp @roxymoron.bsky.social · 18/09/2026

ik what this is like and deadass the answer could be to not only try to raise ur baseline ( make ur worst days better if that makes sense ? ) and just build confidence if you already have enough knowledge abt the game . know how you wanna play and just be confident that you can do it
