Hit my usual weight loss wall in the 180s (as a short I'm aiming for 150s) but since i found a way to have some time for projects again I might be ok with that. Pause the weight loss, eat a maintenance amount for a while for the energy to use that time, and give it another push next spring

While doing movie reviews: Coyote vs Acme. Trite plot, doesn't make much sense, but James Gunn knows how to weaponize nostalgia like a motherfucker and coyote is cute. Worth it.

First bike commute with the heart rate monitor and holy crap, I've been pushing WAY too hard. Like I wouldn't be surprised if I was dead of a heart attack in some large percentage of alternate universes Staying in heart rate zones 2&3 felt so slow. But the ride took the same amount of time >_>

Somehow Scrambles injured himself while we were out of the house, in a way that might be a few weeks to recover. The worry at his age is he might get used to not moving and decline, but it's inspiring how stubborn he's being about continuing to do what he wants

Noticed that work burns me out, making it a struggle to get random other needs done afterward. They hang over my head and I don't get to relax So trying: don't start work until my daily shit is done. So far, wayyy better. Both at work and in life, finding the order I do things really matters

After a day of weird heart rate stats and testing, figured out workday calorie restrictions are stressing my body, causing readings that are *too good* to be good and other issues. Stats normalized and i stopped getting "irregular heart rate" warnings when I broke the diet for the weekend as usual

Been in Canada 16 years now and still struggle with some cultural things. You'd think it wouldn't be too different from the US but it really is. Some differences i like, some don't really matter. But I really don't like the indirect communication style and will probably never get used to it

I've seen everyone sharing that US Dialect Quiz so I decided to make my own, much crappier, CANADIAN DIALECT QUIZ to guess where in Canada you're from

A flow chart I have created with multiple questions and the answers determine where you're from.

Question 1 is do you call it a hydro bill (which then branches down to ON, QC, BC, MB) or an electric bill (which then branches down to SK, AB, NS, NB, PEI, NL)

Question 2 is do you call it a cabin (BC, MB, AB, SK) cottage (ON and atlantic) camp (northern Ontario) chalet (QC) or bungalow (Cape Breton)

To delineate BC from MB: do you call it dinner or supper

To delineate southern Ontario rural or big city: have you heard of a stag & doe

To delineate SK from AB: do you call a hoodie a bunnyhug

This reminds me how testing can skew results: the only way I know the word kitty-corner is from these kinds of quizzes the first time i had to answer "i have no word for this" or just "diagonal". But since seeing it on the test, I started saying kitty-corner and now that's my answer

Funny, the place i grew up (VA) isn't affecting the contour lines at all. Canadian English is known to be moving in a similar direction as California English though so maybe that explains it? There were a few questions I know I'dve had a different answer as a kid

Turns out #Picarto may effectively be abandoned by it's owners. No help tickets or emails responded to, no way to set up payouts, and the entire help site is dead. I got a refund for the 6 months of premium I paid for via Paypal who -could not reach Picarto's staff or owners-. Just a head's up.

Anyone else get a weird feeling inside your ear when you peel a hard boiled egg? Hearing the egg cracking slowly causes what feels like a quick pressure wave or bass drum kick. I'd say evolutionary holdover from egg=important but if it's just me then I dunno
