Yah, I think we have to walk and chew gum. Americans are notoriously uninterested in defending rights/freedoms that don't affect them directly. If scientists/scholcom/academia don't make a bigger noise, there's no cavalry. Hence doing both.

Scholars who engage beyond regime notice right away that work/data are missing from their own education/research. Ex was lack of psychometrics in psych edu in USSR. Based on paedology (which contradicts Marxist ideology) so wasn't taught. Banned as "a bourgeois reductionist science" #DefendResearch
