Of course, not talking about the indie sphere, that is thriving thankfully. But looking back its wild knowing that huge games like Halo were from a relatively small studio and a passion project with a clear vision, just with big backing of a publisher like Microsoft.

Just because you can't point it out doesn't mean the issue isn't there. Hard to say what it is about most games these days from major studios that just don't make it click, but i put the blame on corporate/board interferance. Gone are the days of a passion project game from a hanful of people.

I wouldn't be surprised if its a management thing where a good idea implemented poorly or that needs working on gets axed because they don't want to spend resources on it because the game is such a cash-cow even despite its flaws, so they'd rather maximize profit margins.

Pretty sure because any passion the developers had about the IP (I remember stories of the devs working on animations on their freetime because they enjoyed it so much) that all that passion has burnt out, but its such a lucrative IP its forced to grind, despite running on fumes at this point.

I had mostly escaped the problem until i got my hands on a half complete Trade federation MTT (the big 2009 version) and i noticed several pieces breaking when i bought missing pieces and put on the set. One even exploding after i placed it wrong and tried to use a brick separator to remove it.

Real shame there's no reliable alternative to get real chromed lego parts. Their tight fits mean custom chroming without the paint layer being too thick that it puts stress on the bricks is near impossible, have to glue it, never disassemble it, but even then i expect pieces to crack over the years.

$200 worth of custom chromed bricks and they fit poorly and now one of the largest pieces that has stickers attached to it cracks. Will be way too much money for replacements. Gotta try and glue everything but feels like this thing will just explode in a few years from all the tension..

You should. Making progress or some kind of change/improvement can do a lot for mental health. You need that feeling of progression, that youre are moving forward or making a meaningful change and aren't just treading water by doing the same thing over and over. Small things like cleaning do help.

Creativity doesn't simply have to come from how good you are with a pen or an instrument. If you want a cool sign or display and you're a welder, you can weld something unique together. And certain things like a menu doesn't need a bunch of shitty looking AI clutter on it.
