Welp, I broke down and ordered that set of acrylic markers I've been eyeing. There was a sale on.

Just gonna throw it out there, I have a birthday coming up so, if anyone wants to help me with my mountain of medical debt or just.. do something nice for me this month, it would be very cool of you. (links in the quote) bsky.app/profile/redc...

I love how the colours came out in this one. #art #illustration #bear

A small girl with braids wearing a beige dress with blue pants is sitting on the back of a big brown bear. The bear is standing in the middle of a river surrounded by a forest, and is flicking the water with one big paw.

Inspired by Yojik v Tumane, an old Russian stop-motion animation from 1976 (I think?). A normal night without fog... #art

A bear and a hedgehog are sitting in a clearing at night drinking tea with raspberry jam and looking up at the sky, counting the stars.

This is what I worked on instead of drawing boxes. #art #jellyfish #illustration

A boy wearing a dark greet sweatshirt, yellow overalls, and an orange hat holding on to the arm of a jellyfish and 'flying' with it. They are surrounded by many other jellyfish.

Singing underwater, like whales do! I tried to play a bit with things with this one. #art #mermaid

A mermaid with pink hair wearing headphones. She's underwater but she's singing. She's wearing a yellow crop top with a star on it and her tail is teal.

I think it's finally finished. I've been wanting to draw a Moomin illustration for a while.

Snufkin sitting with his back to a tree, playing the harmonica. A bunny and two rats are watching. All the animals have pretty ribbons on their tails.

Spent the afternoon playing I Was A Teenage Exocolonist. That game is good. And pretty! I love the art in it.

I finished it! This is the Pierre shawl by Stephen West, knit in Malabrigo silky merino. It is so soft and amazing!

Slept really bad last night so I was super tired today. I couldn't draw my boxes, lines were just wobbling all over the place... So I worked on a big illustration instead.

I took a little digital watercolours for procreate class on Skillshare and this was the project. Quick painting to try out the techniques that the instructor showed. It was fun!

Digital watercolour painting of a sea turtle swimming towards the viewer and the upper left, with a blurry reef in the background and tiny fish.

A revolutionary idea: What if I was kind to myself and was okay with taking the day off instead of feeling bad that I’m not doing stuff because I'm feeling really off today? Especially since I did do stuff. (Laundry! Boxes! Even some painting!)

I started working on this last night. It still needs some refining and tweaking but I think I like where it’s going.

A rough sketch in Procreate of a mermaid sitting on a rock and singing. She’s wearing headphones. There are jellyfish around her.

I know it’s July, but I did another mermaid sketch.

An outline drawing of a mermaid wearing headphones. Her head is tilted back and she’s singing.

I knew Himi gouache was crappy, I bought it knowing that, to have something to use in my sketchbook that I wouldn’t feel too precious about, but damn. I don’t remember having this much trouble with it the previous times I used it.

I have a recipe for lasagna roll ups. Instead of layers you roll the filling up in the lasagna noodle. It’s not bad. Granted, it does end up in a casserole dish anyway so…

I started work today on an illustration that's been rattling in my brain for a little bit. Got a bunch of the lineart done so far. I'm working in Procreate, which I haven't really used lately for painting, so that's going to be interesting. Do you have a go to 'process' for digital painting?
