You bet!
Screenshot from a Getty Museum video showing, in rapid succession, illustrations from medieval manuscripts that depict primarily imaginary creatures and describe them with equally invented characteristics and abilities.

These creatures all come from Getty's Northumberland Bestiary.

The goal of the video is to find out which creature matches you.

You stop the video and—voilà—the animal shown is your dæmon, as they would say in the world of *His Dark Materials*.

Mine is the Bonnacon—a mythical beast from ancient accounts and medieval bestiaries known for its unique method of defense: it farts and shits fire!
Nice!

Okay, Pixar, can't really talk to Disney right now, but could you please make a whole feature film in this art style? Thanks a lot.
Image shows a moment from "Toy Story 5"—specifically from a fantasy sequence imagined by Blaze—in which she envisions a mashup of the ball scene from "Cinderella" and a spy-themed costume drama.

Jessie, appearing as Agent Clydesdale aka Lady Davenport in a classic Disney princess gown, bows alongside Bullseye, cast as an evil mastermind, before Blaze’s pet pig, Jimmy Dean aka Jimmy Queen, who is dressed as a queen.

The visual style of this sequence is unusually painterly and impressionistic compared to Pixar’s typically sleek aesthetic.
I love it.

Huge respect to Katy Perry for using this photo of herself.
An image of Katy Perry on the cover of her single "Watch It Burn." It is a low-key, close-up profile portrait featuring harsh overhead lighting.
This makes her natural skin imperfections and shiny areas highly visible, as she evidently chose not to use concealing makeup.

A very bold move for a woman in the public eye, especially given the intense scrutiny she faces.

As I said: respect.

The image shows the yellow banner for Bilbo Baggins’s 111th birthday, shortly before he sets off for Rivendell with a spectacular exit (THE One Ring! Invisibility!).

To this day, it remains unexplained why Bilbo experiences these moments of invisibility so very differently from Frodo—specifically, as seemingly not at all unpleasant or threatening...

20 years ago, Polly Scattergood’s songs helped me through a rough patch. And then I completely forgot about her. Stumbling upon her again hit me hard. Makes me feel like Bob from the "Thunderbolts*", shuddering amidst the bizarre spaces of his buried existences. Huge thanks, Ms. Scattergood 💌
An image of Polly Scattergood sitting on a modern, elegant, and glossy—yet narrow—wooden staircase framed by wooden side panels.

Leaning against one of the side panels and dressed in a casual suit made of warm, coarsely woven fabric, she gazes pensively down at the glasses she is holding casually in her hands.

The way she has crossed her legs causes her feet—clad in elegant brown leather lace-up shoes featuring classic broguing and understated lacing—to point outward in opposite directions in a very unnatural manner.

Genau!

"Morning!

"Babe, are you coming to bed too?" Me: "... In a bit..."

The image shows a moment from the narrative world of the *Violet Evergarden* manga/anime.

It features Violet in the outfit she has worn since she began working as an Auto Memory Doll.
She is shown in a medium shot, standing in front of a bookshelf in a traditional library.

She holds three books in her left arm.
With her right, gloved hand, she holds a book in such a way that she can examine the title.

She wears the glove because both her arms were severed during the war and replaced with cyborg-like mechanical prostheses.

Interestingly, the image comes neither from the beautiful animated series nor from the manga, but is a very well-executed, lovingly created piece of fan art.

Current feeling
Image shows - in a very traditional painting style - Skylla and Charybdis, two of the most famous and terrifying monsters of Greek mythology.

They lived facing each other on opposite sides of a narrow strait, making any passage through it extremely dangerous. This strait is associated with mythical maritime adventures, such as those of Jason, Odysseus and Aeneas.

The image aptly illustrates my current feelings as I observe certain political and social developments.

The image comes from the website MYTHOI.ORG; unfortunately, no artist is named.

The image shows a detail of the book cover for *The Sisterhood* (2025) by Maisie Moon (self-published).

Set against a very dark, warm background, it features a square, painted portrait of a young Woman — perhaps in a Pre-Raphaelite style.
Her face is bisected by the edge of the image, roughly along the line of her nose.

This image is arranged four times — side-by-side and stacked —in a line that dips slightly downwards.

Beneath this "chain of images," a torn strip of white paper lies on the background surface.
The words "The Sisterhood" appear on the paper in a highly stylized typeface.

The work strongly evokes the thematic aura of a modern witchcraft mythology.

The Resurrection of Dr. Mabuse
Image showing cartoon faces of Trump.
The style is simple, clean, and bright, depicting only his face, even without the neck.
Six different facial expressions are shown:

That indescribable one, consisting essentially of his "Ooooh" mouth—usually paired with nearly closed eyes—which could express the contentment of a strange life form.

The next one likely falls into the same category, only with the mouth and eyes closed. The level of self-righteousness seems higher here.

Which might well fit the third one.
It is that slack, bared-teeth grin that never reaches his eyes—which, in any case, are rarely clearly visible.

No. 4 is the opposite, as far as the mouth is concerned.
It is twisted in his characteristic way, expressing with terrifying clarity his contempt, his loathing, his hatred, and—in all likelihood—his terrible rage at himself.
One fears he considers images of himself wearing this expression to be strong and masculine.

Number five is a familiar one, though rarely seen lately.
Exuding supreme smugness with a closed mouth. He would claim he was smiling; children would shrink away in suspicion—and they would be right.

The sixth is the one currently in use. Disgruntled, scornful, with an undertone of detachment—usually with eyes closed, making it hard to tell whether he might already be asleep.

This closes the circle with Dr. Mabuse, as that supervillain with plans for world domination—invented in the 1920s —was notorious for his "1,000 faces."
So many faces to mask personality and mood.

OUR supervillain here needs only six for that—but then again, unlike Dr. Mabuse, he is a genius.

Keine schlechte Idee, denn dann müssten z.

Was offensichtlich nicht gelingt.

Sehr smart.
Doch weiter unten im Eck steht: "Ich will Demokratie".
Na...?

Ich will Demokratie!

So.

My inner child wants to save it right away. I mean, it's a baby unicorn!
Image was taken at the edge of a private road in a quiet neighborhood of a small town.
It shows a yellow wheeled trash bin, with its upper section extending beyond the frame. In the foreground, a metal storm drain grate is visible; along its rear edge, small green leaves are sprouting from the gap between the metal and the curb.

One item is a toy stroller for twin dolls, featuring the colors of the Barbie toy collection.
In front of it lies the box for a "Glitter Puzzle," also from Barbie.

Between these two things and the trash can stands a cute white plush unicorn that looks exactly like the one from the movie *Despicable Me*—the one Gru wins for Agnes at a fairground shooting gallery (using unfair methods, of course).

The little unicorn looks directly into the camera with very large eyes, with an expression as if it doesn't quite know what's happening to it, mixed with the dawning suspicion that the future might no longer be child's play.

Damn it, I know these are silly projections of an old fool, but it's a baby unicorn!

Morning Ghost Train
Image shows a moment from the animated film *Spirited Away* (2001), in which the protagonist, Chihiro, is sitting on a train—resembling a commuter train—that travels through the magical spirit town.
Sitting next to her is a black-clad figure who has no name within the film's universe but is generally known as "No-Face."
This is likely because the figure wears a mask with a blank, expressionless look, typical of Japanese theatrical tradition.

It is an image that perfectly captures how I feel while taking the train to a doctor's appointment.

"This body is a male model. Walking feels so weird" What a beautiful 10th episode of "The Ghost in the Shell" (2026), both visually and intellectually. Just the wind down I needed right now. (and yeah, the art style for the major is borderline, as always)
Pic from the animated "The Ghost in the Shell" TV series (2026). It shows a profile portrait of Major Kusanagi set against a two-tone background—the black and white "color" of a CRT monitor—with the dividing line running precisely behind the vertical center line of her head.
She herself is rendered in a translucent blue-white, surrounded by a glow that arises either from her own "radiation" or as a halo effect caused by the intensely luminous background.

The moment shown is the one immediately preceding her merging with the granular AI, which presents itself as a kind of floating, spherical probe that nonetheless appears "patched together."

Both are confined within a sort of virtual limbo—the Major following her death, and the AI trapped in a state of stasis that stifles its development.

The conversation between the two characters prior to their merger is smart and rich, complementing the visual beauty of the scene in a most stimulating way.

"Welcome to my world. This is a story about how all changed in an instance. Because what we didn't know was that our world was about to come to an end. And there were no rules on our cave walls to prepare us for that." - Eep, Crood Family
Image from the animated film "The Croods" (2013).

It is rendered in the style of a cave painting and shows the globe using simple, flat blue-and-sand-colored graphics against a streaky, grayish background—representing space—featuring a few childishly simple yellow stars.

Someone has pressed a large handprint in red paint onto the image of the world.

All of this is part of Eep’s narration at the beginning of the film, in which she tells us her family’s story—in the style of a typical coming-of-age comedy.

"What were you doing last night, bud?" "Don't ask, but I binged this very much." Funny, surprisingly profound, with amazingly complex, difficult characters. Title doesn't lie; you'll learn everything about rice cultivation 😁 And Naomi Ohzora delivers outstanding voice acting in the lead.
The title poster for the anime *Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin* (2024) features the titular heroine, a very young, spoiled, and egocentric harvest goddess.
She stands within a stylized, circular arch of rice stalks.
With a confident, determined expression, she holds her field hoe — which doubles as a dangerous weapon — out toward the viewer, ready for combat.
For whatever one might hold against her, she is nonetheless courageous and capable in the face of the manifold threats on the island to which she was banished.
She is swirled about by long, silken ribbons whose magical properties are highly useful in combat — and, of course, look great while doing so; for let’s be honest: this is top-notch original anime, complete with all the beautiful, bizarre, and magical elements.
