For people saying they are thinking about putting their central heating back on, our cat told us a couple of weeks ago (very loudly) that the time had come! We of course, obliged (as you do!). 😹

A new song, co-written by @TimBraggmusic & myself, is a hard-hitter about why people consider taking their own lives, & why we should consider what pushes them that far. End of September was inspired by me hearing a trucker moaning about being inconvenienced by a bridge jumper. #EndOfSeptember

I think I'm going to form a band, playing good old 60s to 80s GREAT tunes. I will name that band Dodge E. Hipps & The Knee Replacements. We may not sell out stadiums, but I bet we'd get a full house at The Cider Barn down the road!

Well, this has been a difficult couple of weeks. 1. Bloods show a diagnosis of MGUS, meaning a 1 in 100 chance of developing Myeloma blood cancer 2. Bad back & leg numbness, GP advises could be nerve damage. MRI booked for next week 3. Bad depressive episode, not helped by 1 & 2 above! #JustAgein'

Today, a little visit to #Watchet. Saw a chap catch a rather large bass, probably 6-8 lbs, had a lovely meal (not bass alas), at a local pub restaurant, then did the tourist thing and took a stack of pictures on my phone!

Living with depression or bipolar? Then this song was written for you and tells the world of the strengths you have, as well as the #BlackDog visits. You are indeed, two poles apart. youtu.be/EYXKRfDlzQU?...

The wax is building in my ears As the appointment with suction slowly nears The hospital nurse doth know me well And all my fears she tries to quell The wax is sucked and put to side The feeling and noise I can't abide What comes out should be unseen But there's enough to mould a figurine!

As a 69 year old, the world has changed to an almost unrecognisable point for me. If I had the money, I would just buy a house in the middle of nowhere, west country or Wales, live like a recluse, grow my own food and build a recording studio. That would keep me happy 'til I die!

First of four days off, and looking forward to a bit of me time! Got a couple of meet-ups with good friends over the next few days, and also an hour getting beaten-up by my physio! Not much time for music-making this week though. www.remotehighway.co.uk

I have become a lot less 'social' in recent years, only going out with the wife or close friends. It's almost like a phobia of public places that has only started since Covid/lockdown. I promised a friend I'd attend their gig tonight and don't want to let them down, but feeling a little wary.

A hard-hitting #Substack this week, which looks at why social media is becoming a very bad place to be. It's a hard read in places but hits home about how urgently CONTROLS are needed. rosshemsworth.substack.com/p/old-news-n...

The fields rise high in amber flame In France & Spain, it's just the same They fight the fires with all they've got But nature knows it's just too hot Man did bring destruction down Destroying nature in every town Will human beings ever learn Or will we leave our world to burn

The parties on both sides of the house, have criminally misspent taxpayers money for years! They have poorly invested #NI funds not leaving enough in the pot to pay ongoing pensions to those reaching retirement age & then accused pensioners of being uneconomic if they don't work! #JustYellin'

Sometimes in life, we have to accept reality.... People change, friends can becomes foes, not everyone is going to like the same kind of music (which is a GREAT thing), some people may stab you in the back to get your job, whilst others will actually stab you in the back to steal your phone!

RossSongwriter @rosssongwriter.bsky.social · 24/07/2026

Life changes around us every day. Some of those changes are subtle & may go unnoticed, whilst others are so obvious they slap your face five times with a mackerel. Yet, still people either don't want to notice, or they live their lives with their eyes fully closed.
