Dinner sorted for tonight. Stepson gave me a bag of tamale flour and a bag of corn husks. Made up jack fruit tamales and also made enough to freeze. First effort not too bad, made the mistake of thinking the corn husks are all usable. You have to sort out the good ones !

Date palm seedling from an ordinary shop bought pack of dates.
Had one that got up to about 12 inches but it didn't survive the winter.

Might put a cloche over them to keep the heat going.
Growing at an alarming rate !
