Illustration by Gordon Brewster, seen at the Museum of Literature Ireland. #literature #art #EvilLiteratureMenace

Classic print illustration of a tentacled octopus-style monster using its tentacles to slither its way from the sea onto a landmass.
The landmass has IRISH FREE STATE written on it.
The tentacles themselves have text reading EVIL, LITERATURE and MENACE.

Editing went fairly well today. I scrapped a scene that wasn't working and rewrote it from scratch from the other character's POV. On the other hand, I also left this problem for my future self to solve. Best case scenario, it makes me laugh when I get back to it. #writingcommunity #editing

In a Comment box in Microsoft Word, a note for my future self to come back to. The incredibly helpful note is, in all capitals, 'ADD MORE SCENE'

Had a rhubarb rooibos tea when I was away somewhere recently, and I think I've tracked down a site that will deliver it to Ireland! AND it came in a cup with a lid.

A close-up photo of a neon green ceramic mug with matching neon green lid, on a cork coaster. Accompanied by the menu for the cafe. The menu is for Lady And The Bear cafe, and has a cute little illustration of a bear relaxing, or sleeping, with a coffee cup.

I've been to Edinburgh before, but today was my first time seeing this in the Scottish National Gallery: Macbeth, by John Martin. #Edinburgh #Classical #Art

Classical oil painting in a fine gold frame.

Macbeth and Banquo stand alone at the top of a hill.
Their army legions are barely visible trailing them in the distance, but only Macbeth and Banquo have made it to the top. There's an ominous vortex of clouds overhead, but the sky beyond is clear.
The three witches are just visible in the lefthand corner, floating in midair and beckoning to the men.

Anyway, here's one answer for certain:

Signed CD cover of The House Must Win, an album by Mick Flannery. The cover image is a pencil style sketch of a pensive young man with a full pint in front of him, and in the distance a train is coming down the track towards him.

Saw this written declaration earlier today in the National Print Museum in Dublin. Friend, you stand on sacred ground This is a printing office (Beatrice Warde, 1932)

Wooden framed print of "This Is A Printing Office"

Reads as follows:
This is a printing office
Crossroads of civilisation
Refuge of all the arts
Against the ravages of time
Armoury of helpless truth
Against whispering rumour
Incessant trumpet of trade
From this place words may fly abroad
Not to perish on waves of sound
Not to vary with the Writer's hand
But fixed in time having been verified in proof

Friend, you stand on sacred ground

This is a printing office

Finished my draft at 7.30pm on New Year's Eve - I can't guarantee that the ending is gold, but it EXISTS.

Big yellow star that reads "Finished the damn draft!"

#Writing goal for 2026 - Edit Finished 2025 with a complete first draft for my cosy fantasy novel about death and legacy. The goal for 2026 is to figure out how to turn that draft into an actual book.

#WIPSnips Word of the day is "End", and I have been working towards this particular one for a year and a half:

A4 sheet of white paper with the words THE END - indicating the final page of a complete first draft!

Research Ireland had an event running this weekend called Museum of the Moon for #ScienceWeek. Essentially they installed a huge rotating illuminated full moon in Merrion Square. It was a very good moon.

Scene at a park, outdoors, at night. Photo's main focus is a large lit-up full moon art installation piece.

Spotify suggested playlist for me - aka "daylist" - called 'Sad Classical Royalty Core Sunday Afternoon'

#WritingCommunity This is one of my favourite lines from my WIP. This is shortly after a half-smile, just for context.

#WIPSnips #WritingCommunity The word of the day is 'outside' and this particular character is going through it.

Screen grab of a snip of a work in progress - scene description is of a character who has been drawn to a tavern, and is stuck outside, trying to decide whether to go in.
