The more time goes on the more I just want to open a small publishing house. I just absolutely could not do it on my own, I'm more of a creative type than a businessy type and the amount of money needed to start it is more than I can currently fathom. But it's a dream nonetheless.

I've gotten such an incredibly small amount of time to myself since getting my puppy that I may be going slightly insane. There are other factors at play too and I will be fine but today is rough. I love her though!

Saving up to get a paper guillotine and paper scorer bc if I just get those I can start making greeting cards! It's like $30 total for what I'm looking at. (Yes I know I can make due without them but it's really hard on my hands and body overall)

As an autistic women I've already had a problem with autistic men getting away with harmful behavior because they are autistic. The excuses people will make are ridiculous. Autism doesn't make you hateful, evil, or anything like that.

Advice to #authors who’ve yet to publish: If you have even a thought you want to use a pen name instead of your name, do it. Because if you want to change it later, apparently not even you getting 💀 threats is enough for goodreads or kdp to make an exception to their policy & delete your legal name.

I literally don't think I could trust a professional ghostwriter to write my ideas how I want them. Letting AI mess with my work is gonna be a no. (And that's just my opinion on top of the harm it does to creatives and the environment)

You know you've been sick when you have a good day physically and you question if you're actually feeling better or if you're just manic and it's masking your illness.

I am really dealing with the fact that as much as I want to, I may not complete the Topians series. It's based so much on my health struggles and the first book was written during a short period of time when we thought everything was going to be clear.

I’m sorry for being so annoying about this but sales are really low this month and I really hate that I haven’t been able to get our authors as much exposure as I want to. Today is the last day to order this month’s boxes and I’d really love to show our authors a bit more love.

I will be making a FREE PDF guide to making your own book covers... However, I also want to make an affordable online class for authors who need/want more help. What would you pay for a class like that? Comment your thoughts!

I'm going to be honest. I'm kind of in a, I need to make some income season of my life and sadly publishing books usually puts me in the red. It's one of the reasons I haven't self published for a while and probably won't for another year at least.

020

Rose Johnson @rosejohnsonauthor.bsky.social · 09/01/2025

This year I may not publish. But I will actually finish a book, editing and all! That's the hope at least.

Looking into making a Udemy course for book cover design and social media for authors and... I may be WAY out of my comfort zone rn (I've only ever taught a lecture in person and it wasn't about design). Anyway this may take a year but it will happen eventually.
