Quick check in for y’all! <3 It is becoming clear I severely overestimated how productive I could be during surgery recovery, so there is going to be a pause on the drawing series and announcement for the foreseeable future! I am doing fine, don’t worry there, just not super happy about it lol

For now, we’ll count these as day 6 of the Draw Every Day challenge! More work on muscle anatomy, and though I do have much better examples of it, I cannot show em off here sadly. I will have my next day be a deep dive into breaking down musculature and bones, so stay tuned! ^^

010

Axle The Draxolotl @axlethedraxolotl.bsky.social · 07/08/2026

Also, following that, I do have something much much bigger in the works, and is the reason I am doing the Draw Every Day project to begin with… I can’t give too much to promise rn, but man am I excited! ><

Axle The Draxolotl @axlethedraxolotl.bsky.social · 07/08/2026

Apologies for the lack of updates on the draw every day! I assure you I am still drawing, however it is focused on some personal projects atm, I will resume to proper studies in a few days and continue on! ^^

Had to cut it short a couple days for travel, but I am back in action!! Draw Every Day: Day 5 Time to begin my first actual studying work, where I’ll spend a week working on a specific body part, and train it until it feels natural! This week is the chest and rib cage! All but two are from memory!

041

Axle The Draxolotl @axlethedraxolotl.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

Draw Every Day: Day 4 Remember!! The most important rule of learning art; whether you are picking up a pencil for the first time, or picking it up for the billionth… Always have fun. Never forget why you wanted to do this, don’t let your desire to be better kill your love. Now… TAILS!!! YES!!!

030

Axle The Draxolotl @axlethedraxolotl.bsky.social · 26/07/2026

Draw Every Day: Day 3 More boxes!! Today I wanted to test out where I stood using several different ideas to make use of the lines and boxes practiced earlier, and I am very happy with how it turned out! (Front page is too flimsy for circles, but it may have worked out even better than I thought.)

Axle The Draxolotl @axlethedraxolotl.bsky.social · 25/07/2026

Draw Every Day: Day 2/? Boxes!! Now that I have some more familiarity with pencil strokes, it is time to start working on the backbone of everything I need, the first one being boxes!! With these little guys, everything else can be made, you just need to know how to work em! (All freehanded)

You know what, for real this time. Draw Every Day: Day 1/? Lines!! While they may seem simple, they are incredibly difficult for me traditionally. I have a tremor in my right hand, so I have used the stabilizing of digital as a crutch far too long, time to get better! (Alt Txt + Comments)

The left page practices two methods, feathering, and point match lines, in no particular fashion or order.

The “fireworks” are probably the hardest, starting with a center point, I have to start a certain distance away, and try to thread through the center dot, then end up an equal distance from the start, in a single stroke, and I know they are not pretty.

The ladder and weirdly interlaced diamond pattern are a similar concept, but rather connecting two points as close to perfectly as you can, in a single stroke, much easier said than done.

The strands and grass like strokes are feathering practices, at least to me, just start with a line, and see how closely you can make a near identical line, for as many repetitions as you care for, I usually shoot for about 30-50 strokes per.

~30 Minutes

The right page is consistency practice! Using only my wrist, elbow, or shoulder movements to make different lengths of straight or curved lines, I try my best to trace the same line without much deviation, each line here is 25 lines stacked on top of each other, and I am happy to see how they start to narrow down into a more solid line as I progressed and filled the page.

~20 Minutes

Man… completely forgot about Bsky being a thing… I need to get some sorta schedule going on here. Anyone think it’s cool to see doodles and sketches as I start learning more anatomy? >>

The time has finally arrived! After 14 hours of clocked drawing time, and several hand cramps, I present to you the best artwork I have ever made!! Fully lineless render of the floofy green proot mid fight! Now, I wonder who is going to be on the other end of this? (Seriously I am so so proud rn)

Mister Blue Sky... I decided to gaze upon the night sky and take a look at all the stars and sparkles that enlighten the night. To my surprise... I spotted an Avali Constellation, smiling back at me! I wish you all a very goodnight'vali, and remember... I'm just a lemon'vali.

How y’all feeling about this kind of rendering? Haven’t tried it before, and it feels pretty basic, so I may do more to up the texture! All advice is welcome!

Okay!! Art seems to be arting again for me!! Talked to some new artsy frems and got some really good advice, the main thing being posing refs!!! I am in love with this sketch! >< Raegis showing Slate that there is more to strength than just big and bulky! (First look at two more Relics OC’s for ya)

Very random tangent, but I’d like to get some input on it. Whenever talking about incredible artists and their works, I always avoid the use of “talented”, and prefer skilled or just other positives! With art especially, so much work goes into becoming better, “talent” just feels insulting.

How do y’all like, draw stuff well?? Like I am just seeing amazing post after amazing post, and then I try to do that, and my hands no longer understand the objective? Where do I learn this superpower, what Tibetan Monks do I need to train with to make that kind of stuff more than one lucky time?!?

smug kitties! 🐱 who would you say was the winner?

A comic of Miya, ragdoll cat, and Fen, calico cat, getting into a smug face contest.

Miya: "Smug contest, GO!!"
Fen: "Heh, as if I'd lose to YOU!"

The two proceed to make smug faces at each other.
In the background, Rin was eating lunch.
"Oi, are you two TRYING to get smacked."

When in doubt, sketch some Dragon Ball! These were some challenges from today, I set a timer for ten minutes and once it went off, I had to drop the pencil, no more work! (The Goku one was twenty minutes… lowered it for more of a challenge!! Bonus if anyone can tell me all three poses ^^)
