The half dip crossover glaze is always so classy. Side note: I made and donated 20 bowls for our local Empty Bowls fundraiser. All proceeds go to Kitsap food safety programs. #emptybowls #kitsap #pottery
Bowl with a pale sage green glaze on one side and a dark mossy green on the other. The two glazes meet in the center to create a darker tone.A close up photo of the bowl.Information on the Empty Bowls fundraiser. It will be happening on Saturday, March 1st, 2025 at Chapel Hill Church, 7700 Skansie Avenue, Gig Harbor WA.

Glaze before and after cone 5 firing 😲 I always love the transformation. #pottery #beforeandafter
Looking inside the kiln, you can see that most of the bowls and cups are a matte white or gray color. After heating up to around 2000 degrees F the pieces have transformed to shades of green. He’s a hefty fellow! This travel mug / mustache guard mug holds 16 ounces with ease. I really like how the lid turned out! More coming soon. #pottery #ceramictravelmug

Putting these pretty wine cups in the shop this afternoon. I got this backdrop specifically for my brighter pieces! I feel like the combo of cups and background is giving me Lisa-Frank-switched-to-ceramics vibes 😂 #pottery #ceramics
Two rounded stemless wine cups in a light raspberry pink with robins egg blue on the top half. The pink speckles through the blue and has a purple hue towards the rim. The background is misty colors of pink, blue, purple and white. A close up of one of the cups.

Everyone loves a glow up 🥰 check out these before and afters! I’m really happy with the results of my new Mayco SD glazes. Now that I’m more confident in the results I’ll be playing with more combinations!
Seven bowls with pastel matte appearance due to the glaze just being applied to the bisque ware. They are loaded onto the bottom shelf of my kiln. The bowls around the outside of the rounded shelf are a matte green/blue with pale red around the rims. The center bowl is a very pale pink. The interior of the electric kiln is visible. After a cone 5 firing, the bowls are now glossy and bright! Six of the bowls are bright robins egg blue with pink around the rims and the center bowl is a satin white. Various bowls, cups, mugs and vases with pastel matte appearance due to the glaze just being applied to the bisque ware. Colors range from dark gray to pale pink. These items are all arranged on the middle shelf of the kiln, awaiting their transformation. After cone 5 firing, everything is shiny and bright! The vases are a mossy green, a couple mugs and a bowl are an earthy dark green with brown highlights, one mug is all raspberry pink and one mug is all robins egg blue. There’s a pair of cups that are both pink with blue around the rims. One bowl ended up a bright tawny brown, that was unexpected.

First go with Mayco dip glazes. Even though I have the max water content according to their instructions, it still seems quite thick. Anyone else have experience with Mayco SD glazes? 🤞
Glaze hydrometer measuring to 1.047 specific gravity. Here I am dipping a bowl with prongs in the glaze. A mug I dipped that shows extra thickness in the glaze where it dripped out. Perhaps I was just too slow!
