I think that citizenship should entail joint ownership of a countries land and natural resources. Eg with housing, land is rented from society with everyone getting their fair share for free only paying for the building, with companies, ppl with multiple properties ect paying ground rent to fund UBI

Zionists who see the Palestinians as long lost brothers and sisters they are reuniting with in a common homeland are not racist. Unfortunately most view them as illegitimate squatters who should go back to Saudi Arabia or worse as uncivilised thugs to be ethnicly cleansed which absolutely is racist.

For me the issue sits on a knife edge. I don't think Zionism is necessarily racist (you could conceive of a Jewish nation and self determination in the context of a binational state) but it's most consequential forms are. It's genocide regardless of whether or not Zionism is racism. Free Palestine

Maybe we will be out in the same category as far right thugs, "ordinary people with legitimate concerns".

You never hear such figures talk in the same way about the climate emergency or Israeli apartheid/genocide in response to protests connected to those issues, the extremism or antisemitism of the protesters seem to be the salient issues in those cases

Where does the money required to pay the interest ultimately come from? From new loans resulting in ever increasing debt in the economy? From government spending?. Is this a reason why the current economic system requires growth, to pay the interest on loans?

I doubt his IQ would enable him to learn another language or integrate into wider British society. As for subsaharan Africans he would be shocked to learn that most human genetic diversity is in subsaharan Africa with the rest of us representing a minority who left and interbread with neanderthals.

High end cars at one time embodied refined elegance in their design. Now they visually project extrinsic values and insecure neolibral male ego, which are among the driving forces of the multiple compounding crisis we face.

That's not to say money and other fictional entities such as institutional structures are unimportant or unnecessary in the modern world (they are vital) and we can manage the "real" world directly, it's that the fictional layer has to map onto and model the real world or we get irrational results.

roscogo.bsky.social @roscogo.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
When will ppl realise that if you manage anything in terms of "fictional" concepts such as money, if you don't ensure that they map onto and reflect accurately the real world of labour, resources, biophysical constraints or vibrant football leagues ect, then you get illogical real world outcomes.

It seems to imply that the implications of a destabilised climate are restricted to the weather. No need to worry about the implications for agriculture, migration, sea levels, ecology, human health, infrastructure, ect ect, just enjoy the Mediterranean climate.

Because I would starve otherwise I work for a retired businessman and his wife who are living their bucolic fantasy as sheep farmers in the Devon countryside. My job is to pander to his whims by bringing the aesthetics of his golf course to the open countryside using a brush cutter and weed killer.

If there was damning evidence that PA is unequivocally involved in terrorism I'm sure it wouldn't be secret for long and we would know all about it by now, what reason would they have for keeping it secret?

When someone inevitably comes into work when they are too ill to be there and ends up vomiting (or worse) all over the floor or their desk, everyone should dig their heels in saying it's not in their contract to deal with such things and leave it to whoever wrote that email to clean up.

They seem to think antisemites are motivated to commit violence by slogans at marches against genocide... but are unmoved by the actual genocide commited by a state dangerously conflated with the Jewish diaspora. Or maybe they will say anything to divert attention away from 🇮🇱 so no 🇵🇸 voices allowed

It winds me up. The unspoken assumption appears to be "Nobody really gives a shit about the Palestinians..therefore the protests are no more than thinly veiled pure unadulterated antisemitism" this is projection of their heirachal sectarian worldview onto us. You would think there was no genocide.

It's as if Israel's supporters are psychologically projecting their hierarchical, sectarian worldview onto us, they don't get that there is no contradiction. There is also the implication that no one really cares about the Palestinians, so it must be pure unadulterated antisemitism

If markets were free, if wealth was the reward for risk and if we lived in a meritocracy then we would meet former CEOs, business owners, investors and traders working at minimum wage jobs or on benefits all the time. These things are myths they tell us so we blame ourselves and not the system.

It's blatant conflation of the state of Israel with British Jews, which fuels the rising levels antisemitism we see and likely contributed to the recent horrific attack on a synagogue.

I agree with you on this. We have to be pragmatic and base our decisions on empirical evidence and humane moral assumptions rather than on a poor understanding of the science and ideology, which no one, including us on the left, is immune to.

I'm sure Owen is right. It may take years or decades but when todays young people, who have known nothing but austerity and inhumanity from government during their formative years, are in positions of power im sure things will change.

And its not as if PA is a government agency where revealing sensitive intelligence about their operations or organisational structure ect would pose a security risk. If MI5 had infiltrated them and uncovered a plot to bomb UK cities it would be broadcast all over the media.
040
roscogo.bsky.social @roscogo.bsky.social · 05/08/2025
I'm pretty sure that any genuine "secret evidence" that PA does in fact conform to the definition of "terrorist organization" wouldn't be secret for long. If there was a rational, evidence based argument for their proscription it would be rammed down our throats at every opportunity.
010
roscogo.bsky.social @roscogo.bsky.social · 30/07/2025
Obliged to agree that should read. It would be a dark day if you had been charged under the terrorism act for a placard showing a factual satement.
020
roscogo.bsky.social @roscogo.bsky.social · 30/07/2025
Surely the sign you were holding is a statement of fact, and not an opinion. If you you compare PAs words and actions with the definitions of both words you can logically conclude only that they are protesters and not terrorists and I would hope that any court would be abliged to agree.

roscogo.bsky.social @roscogo.bsky.social · 12/07/2025
Thats a great placard, I agree. Hopefully other people will take inspiration to demonstrate the obvious point that organizations "supported" by large numbers of ordinary people don't tend to be the ones that terrorise people, such as the IDF.

Early capitalists faced a brutal truth: peasants used to working their own land & setting their own rhythms weren’t eager to sell their labor for factory wages. Coercion—enclosures, poverty laws, & outright violence—was the real 'invisible hand' that built wage discipline.

Privatised water companies mean our rivers are full of shit. Our bills are going up, our infrastructure is falling apart. But billions get get extracted from "customers" who have no choice other than pay to enrich ceos and shareholders. Thats "efficiency"
000
roscogo.bsky.social @roscogo.bsky.social · 03/04/2025
I agree with you. "efficiency" in the private sector is just shorthand for prioritising profit over quality, customers value for money, resilience and workers workload and wages, as we know all too well in the UK with our privatised utilities.

It might not actually be that difficult for ordinary ppl to imagine. Most people interact with (capitalist controlled) commerce which as you say is not the same thing as capitalism. I can easily imagine democratically controlled commerce that operates within planetary boundaries.
