Genuinely believe the new Dorset cereals design to be part of the general arc of decline that’s prevalent across Britain

Disagree; there’s an outline of a regulatory regime where we could have more inference workloads without capabilities advancements, some form of intelligence ceiling, still requires more GPUs than we currently have

The voter base kind of maps, there are a lot of people in Walthamstow that _should_ be voting for a successful Lib Demish party, there is historical and local context in the voter base and party activist base that makes that 1. Not possible, 2. Undesirable given the Lib Dem’s national target seats

As an E17 resident I don’t think so, I can’t see the people that form the part of the party infrastructure that helped the greens take Walthamstow ever joining the LDs, I don’t think it’s really desirable for them, either? Lose too much on the centre right

Idk how much you have a tolerance for podcasts, but I thought this was great at describing the economics of this: podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/p... It costs ~1 mil dollars in hardware to run the cutting edge Chinese models, even rented, makes a lot cost prohibitive, that’ll go down

That’s a great question I’ll research this evening, would wager both!

000

rory malcolm @rorymal.com · 18/08/2026

Originate in exploits will grow as model capabilities get better, and that part of the reason we’ve not seen a big jump in massive cyber attacks with this new generation of frontier model is that open source still isn’t quite there and the safe guards in Fable/Sol are strong enough

000

rory malcolm @rorymal.com · 18/08/2026

Maybe it just takes time to propagate through the cybercrime economy like it does the real economy, but I would wager that for a period of time, unless we solve defence (via things like Glasswing) for all the good guys that make them have no vulnerabilities anymore, that the percentage of attacks

000

rory malcolm @rorymal.com · 18/08/2026

The exploit-originating approaches are more technically sophisticated and require a stronger class of attacker, vs “I found creds in pastebin and tried my luck”, I think it’s unlikely that everyone got better at hacking overnight. I think there’s already a fair bit of LLM-powered attacking going on.

110

rory malcolm @rorymal.com · 18/08/2026

but that it’s still fine to worry about this because the data is showing OpenMythos will be used by attackers when it arrives, just as its predecessors are

000

rory malcolm @rorymal.com · 18/08/2026

I think the biggest arrow in the quiver of the model freakout ppl are arguments based in the quantitative data (Google Mandiant report, PANW reports) that show exploits growing as a %age of the source of incidents vs re-use of credentials, I think Fables safeguards likely were strong enough
