Today’s figures show there were a record 17,517 people living in homeless emergency accommodation at the end of March. Shockingly, 5,571 of them are children. This social catastrophe is happening as the Govt presides over the highest number of evictions since the Famine. @roryhearne.bsky.social

This isnt serious governance. An eviction issued to 36 households in Wexford & Minister for Housing said he would ask the Residential Tenancies Board to address it. But what did he actually do? One phone call! Full story in today's Irish Examiner: www.irishexaminer.com/news/politic...

The Government must clarify how its new derelict property tax will succeed where plans of a similar nature have crashed and burned. We must enable local authorities to engage in compulsory purchases and reinvestment on a huge scale when it comes to dereliction. @roryhearne.bsky.social

A home is not a luxury. It is the foundation of a person’s life, health and dignity. Yet hundreds of thousands in Ireland are denied that basic right, with homelessness becoming normalised and families left struggling. Housing must be treated as a right, not an asset.

As if things couldn't get any worse. This is truly shameful. The Government must act immediately to implement a ban on evictions. We are seeing the highest levels of evictions since the Famine.

It was so frustrating to watch our Taoiseach fail to assert the values of human rights yesterday with President Trump. Saying Trump is 'doing his bit' for peace in the Middle East was shocking. Is this Orwellian dropping bombs on school children and backing Israel's genocidal war now peace making?

Fianna Fail Fine Gael Government committed to clamp down on vulture funds but it's another broken promise, turning more and more people into assets of vulture funds. This is asset stripping the wealth of younger generations and all renters in Ireland - and it's going to billionaire funds.

Why is the Government cowering in silence? Why will it not condemn this illegal war and the US-Israeli bombing of Iran? The Government knows Trump is just distracting from his domestic failures & his population suffering from a cost-of-living crisis while billionaires rake in more & more.

There are more than 4,600 women homeless in Ireland. its important to highlight women in homelessness and hidden homelessness in Ireland and the traumatic impacts on women of this policy and Government failure. We can and must end homelessness. #internationalwomensday❤️

They pretend like they haven't anything to do with record levels of evictions... Bertie would be proud of this acting like you are not the Government- distancing yourself from the results of your policies
