Recent social media posts about Muslims by the ÖVP. The ÖVP is a governing "centre-right" party in Austria, unlike the far-right FPÖ. Together, it's likely those two parties will form the next government. It really makes you ask, at what point will the calls for pogroms be openly made?

Eine Studie des Österreichischen Integrationsfonds zeigt deutlich:

72 % sagen: Integration funktioniert schlecht.

62 % sagen: Das Zusammenleben mit Flüchtlingen ist schlecht.

66% empfinden das Zusammenleben mit Muslimen als schlecht bis sehr schlecht.

Deshalb wird das verpflichtende Integrationsprogramm im ersten Halbjahr 2026 fertiggestellt. Denn wer Unterstützung vom Staat erhält, muss auch aktiv an seiner Integration arbeiten. Und wer das ablehnt, ist in Österreich nicht willkommen.

A study by the Austrian Integration Fund clearly shows:

72% say: Integration isn't working well.

62% say: Living together with refugees is bad.

66% find living together with Muslims to be bad to very bad.

That's why the mandatory integration program will be completed in the first half of 2026.

Because anyone who receives support from the state must also actively work on their integration. And anyone who refuses to do so is not welcome in Austria

I am very pleased to be awarded the Arik Brauer Journalism Prize 2025 together with Karoline Preisler @ PreislerKa and Karl-Markus Gauß. The Arik Brauer Journalism Prize is awarded every year by the think tank MENA-Watch "for well- founded contributions to public debate that consider the Middle East from a fair and reality- based perspective."

Since I approach my often very challenging and complex work with exactly this aspiration every day, it is a wonderful recognition to be honored for precisely this approach. It concerns me that some countries are now considering boycotting the 70th #ESC in Vienna due to Israel's participation. Therefore, I have written a letter to my European colleagues with the appeal to promote the important exchange through art and culture and to jointly find ways to actually improve the situation in lsrael and Gaza.
