Things I learned from my ancestry dna test: My dad’s side of the family makes a big deal of our Irish ancestry, but the majority of my heritage on that side is from Southern England.

A stolen meme that says “just got my ancestry.com results back” with a picture of a box of assorted crackers

Proper doodle today of a dog I saw having the best time

A very simple sketch of a cartoony dog with a big doggy smile and wagging tail. You wouldn’t know it from the picture, but the dog’s front paws are supposed to be up on a car dashboard.

I don’t want the world to see me, cuz I don’t think that they’d understand

A marker, pencil, and pen drawing of Josh and Kurt from Dropout/Game Changer in their fisherman outfits. Josh is cartoonishly unsettling and Kurt is sad-eyed from the “catch” to his new headshots.

Testing out my new colors. It’s wild how much dimension a little shading and a little white adds. I may have just 2 or 3 doodles a week now; I’ve had much less downtime at work as I get acclimated. Which is a good thing, truly!

A juicy looking doodle using pens and alcohol markers. There are lots of colors in the squiggly shapes, because I was trying out my new markers.

Today’s attempt, inspired by doodle.of.nono. Not my usual color palette, but I wanted to stay close to their idea.

An alcohol marker and pen doodle mainly in shades of pink. The darkest shades are heading toward magenta and lilac.

Doodle of the day: this barn I like

A pencil and pen drawing of a bank or banked barn, which has several different entrances on different levels because it’s built into a hill. The barn has a large stable built onto the side, and there’s a grain silo behind and to the left of the barn. There are many trees in the background, and one in the foreground to the right of the barn. The shading is supposed to suggest a bright and sunny afternoon.

Tried some new things today

A small sketchbook atop blue and green markers. The sketchbook has a sketch of a bunny in a gently wooded landscape next to a footpath. There are two kinds of simple flowers next to the bunny.

Today’s doodle featuring my kitty

A sort of stained glass style drawing referencing immaculate heart of Mary imagery with a red heart pierced with a sword and crowned with flames. The space around the heart is filled with white roses and blue “glass”
The small sketch book is laying on my lap next to my sleeping cat.

I probably won’t have a doodle of the day, this one is taking some time

A light pencil sketch of a sort of football shape with what will be a stained glass style drawing of an immaculate heart of Mary thing with a heart, a flame, a sword, and what will be roses in the spaces between.

Doodle of the day: tessellation.

Friday/Monday’s doodle

A zen tangle style doodle with intersecting vertical and horizontal wavy lines. In the funky shapes the lines make, there are kind of psychedelic daisies. Every other flower has a different colored center - half are purple and half are golden yellow. The petals are shaded with pencil to create depth.

Recent doodles and sketches

A wee sketchbook page with a pen, pencil, marker, and paint doodle of a view of an ornate fence at the edge of a canal. It features black wrought iron panels broken up by curvy concrete stanchions. You can see some water through the fence. There are some leaves hanging down and an obscured view of some concrete steps on the other side of the canal.

An unfinished zen tangle page: it features a basket woven pattern. One bit of the weave is filled in with a doodle of diamond shapes.

A doodle with silver sharpie, and pink and blue highlighter

I like James Talarico very much, and I hope he trounces Ken Paxton. That said, every time I see him, I think of cream-faced business boy aka Daytrader Vader from Monster Factory.

A sims character from the YouTube channel Monster Factory with a very businessy look plus sunscreen on his face.

People leave the craziest shit in hotel rooms. Canes, back scratchers, and a durag, once. Drugs and alcohol, toiletries, socks, (soooo many socks), and food. Today someone left a veritable feast, including bread, buns, crackers, hot dogs, ham, condiments, and two kinds of sodas. Thanks, Joe!
