B of A: “.. Time to get bulled up? .. For much of the past three years, we have argued that the U.S. consumer would prove more resilient than many expected. That base case remains intact. What has changed is our degree of conviction: recent developments have left us incrementally more optimistic ..”

obv it's not the job of Bloomberg reporters to care about market impact from their reporting ... but dropping this $GOOGL article during MOC into end of month / qtr likely led to some nasty moves

I think the bond reaction today makes sense ... front end coming in while longer dated holding firm. The curve is probably too flat right now given the expectation for sustained growth while the front end is likely already pricing in the maximum amount of hikes

Big buyback program at $NVDA, something many have been asking for given the valuation. Looks like it’s about 5% of market cap being repurchased over the next 6 quarters

if you only listened to the $COST earnings call to paint a picture of the economy you would hear 1.5% inflation, a consumer being thoughtful with their spending (value in everyday items), but also comfortable with discret spending on travel, jewelry, massage chairs (+50% YoY), appliances, skin care

$AAPL, for now, still owns the hardware endpoint (although I do believe we are now in Hardware War 2). It was obvious watching Meta Connect last night that Zuckerberg is pushing to change their hardware endpoint positioning. I expect to see similar from $GOOGL / OpenAI in the very near term as well

John @roqueig.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
To me, it's extremely important for the other consumer tech companies, mainly $GOOGL, $AAPL, and OpenAI, to roll out something similar. $GOOGL rolled out Spark earlier in the year, but put most capabilities behind a paywall and frankly the UI / UX / marketing are nowhere close to Muse.

John @roqueig.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
Muse is different - it will likely become the central part of everything Meta does and the quicker the adoption the further entrenched (there is a reason why $META is giving away so much compute for free). Muse will learn its users habits and goals and gain further capability and trust over time

The coding harness, Claude Code and later Codex, were products that mostly expanded IT spend and the software takes (for the time being) were overblown.

John @roqueig.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
I've been against many of the takes, over the last few years, about the impact to one company's business because of a product roll out from another. Many companies are entrenched, own the endpoint, and have the data.

This is also $META flexing their compute advantage muscles. In the consumer space, they have the most compute to play with and that is an indictment to what has happened at $GOOGL who had a similar (but not as good) product to Muse (Spark) months ago, but hasn't wide released it for free

John @roqueig.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
Good piece from Thompson yesterday discussing this thesis. The application / product layer is becoming as (or more) important than model layer. In theory, you should be able to create a better app / product with a better model, but the race should accelerate in terms of product rollouts now
