Just gave my ROOT board game shelf a glow-up! 🌲 Absolutely love this game — hoping ALL the expansions get a Japanese release someday…! 🙏✨ @leder.games

Finally got to play ROOT's newest expansion, "The Homeland Expansion," for the first time! Me: Lilypad Diaspora — 30 Wife: Marquise de Cat — 23 Kid: Knaves of the Deepwood — 12 The new factions are so much fun! Loving it! 😆

Played John Company for the first time! A truly unique and complex board game focused on negotiation. I had an absolute blast!✨

My 3-year-old was secretly playing with my ROOT pieces when I wasn’t looking. Looks like this forest is at peace today.🌳✨

Takashi Nakamura @root-bg-tk.bsky.social · 13/08/2026

Inspired by @toddpatriquin.bsky.social, I once photographed ROOT pieces. Today, while camping with my family, I photographed some expansion factions too! Creating scenes that fit their habitats is so much fun! And once again, I’m amazed by Imagine All The Meeple’s work. Huge respect! @leder.games

I made a Japanese digital summary for each ROOT faction! 🌳✨ rootdake.com/summary Check off actions as you take your turn, so you can always see what you’re able to do right now! It’ll warn you if you’re missing a required action. *Unofficial fan-made project

I wrote a ROOT-focused article after a long time! This time, I introduced 【ROOT Expansions & Goods Not Available in Japan】 all in one post. note.com/root_bg_tk/n... None of these have a Japanese release. ROOT has so many amazing expansions worth importing just to play!

Takashi Nakamura @root-bg-tk.bsky.social · 29/07/2026

Family ROOT! Wife (Alliance): 30 VP Me (Duchy): 24 VP Child (Cats): 22 VP I let my guard down and let my wife pull off a huge comeback. There should've been tons of Duchy forces left, but they vanished by the end. Such a fun game as always!

This is “Pla-Colo,” a Pokémon dice game sold in Japan. Customize your dice by swapping energy chips, then roll your Pokémon dice—if your move lands, you deal damage in a head-to-head battle. A thrilling mix of luck and strategy!😆

Today’s ROOT First time playing ROOT just the two of us — me and my oldest son! Losing to him let me feel how much he’s grown, and it made for such a happy time.

Today’s my birthday!🎂 Thanks to all of you, every day has been fun and happy.😆 This year, I hope to play even more ROOT and add more family-friendly games so we can play together more often. Thanks for your support!

ROOT All-Day Gaming Session Vol.3 in Gifu is a wrap! 🎉 12 players gathered at “Milk & Puzzle,” a stylish café where you can enjoy board games with great food. We had a blast over lunch and dessert while playing ROOT. Thank you all for joining us!

Family Root! Marquise managed to pull off a win by sneaking through while the Vagabond used a crossbow to smash a base just as the Alliance was about to score big. Played with BGExpansions’ upgrade tokens loaded up after a while. The paper tiles are great too, but these really boost the immersion!

First game of ROOT in about three weeks a 2-player base game. Even after all this time, it’s still one of the most fun and brilliant board games I’ve ever played. Now I’m eagerly waiting for the Kickstarter expansion to arrive. Can’t wait!

040

Takashi Nakamura @root-bg-tk.bsky.social · 29/05/2026

According to the schedule, it should arrive in Japan tomorrow! I’m so excited at the thought of finally getting my hands on it that I can’t sleep! 🤩

020

Takashi Nakamura @root-bg-tk.bsky.social · 25/05/2026

I wonder if they’ll add designs for the three new factions to the ROOT GeekUp Bag Set? So exciting!😆 That said, The Homeland Expansion hasn't arrived in Japan yet — still can't wait for that one too!🔥

Takashi Nakamura @root-bg-tk.bsky.social · 24/05/2026

I absolutely love this board game! おどってそうな楽 [Odotteso na Raku] Write Japanese kanji as if they're alive running, swaying in the wind, even fishing to match a secret prompt. Others guess which prompt inspired your kanji. A fun, casual taste of Japanese shodo (calligraphy) spirit 🖌️🔥 #boardgame

Yesterday’s ROOT Back to basics — literally the base set: Marquise de Cat vs Eyrie Dynasties. Thought I had the Eyrie under control early, but got completely turned around in the late game and lost. Close match and a great session! #ROOT #boardgame

Back on the Mountain Map after a while! I kept drawing nothing but fox cards, so I struggled to manage my Overwork and extra actions. The landmarks were The Tower and The Black Market. I couldn't believe it when even the card I drew from the Black Market was a fox card.🤣

Takashi Nakamura @root-bg-tk.bsky.social · 03/05/2026

It hasn’t arrived yet, but I’m all set to play it in Japanese! I worked really hard on the translation.

Takashi Nakamura @root-bg-tk.bsky.social · 01/05/2026

Last night, I finally got to do it — for the very first time! I got to play a TRPG session of Root! Diving into the world of my all-time favorite board game and running wild with complete freedom was an absolutely wonderful experience!

030

Takashi Nakamura @root-bg-tk.bsky.social · 26/04/2026

The lighting in my home can change colors to match the theme of whatever board game we’re playing, or even the current phase of the game💡 It’s fun to set the mood and adds to the immersion — though visibility and my eyes suffer terribly for it. Still, it’s one of my favorite things😆

030

Takashi Nakamura @root-bg-tk.bsky.social · 24/04/2026

I’m dying for the Homeland Expansion to arrive, so I’m just going to hold my cat upside down and pretend I’m part of the Twilight Council for now🦇✨ We played ROOT together again today. It was a blast!😆

020

Takashi Nakamura @root-bg-tk.bsky.social · 20/04/2026

I’m really looking forward to the arrival of the Root: Homeland Expansion. I’ve finished the Japanese translation for the faction materials and the 'Learn to Play' guide. It was a lot of work, but that’s nothing compared to the excitement waiting for me once it arrives!🐸🦇🦨

030

Takashi Nakamura @root-bg-tk.bsky.social · 18/04/2026

weekly ROOT session! Played on the Lake Map, with the Ferry and The Lost City as landmarks. Factions: Lord of the Hundreds, Eyrie Dynasties, and the Riverfolk Company. It’s not every day you get to see the Riverfolk Company in a physical tabletop game, but I really love their playstyle.

010

Takashi Nakamura @root-bg-tk.bsky.social · 18/04/2026

I just hit my 300th play of Root so far this year! That’s combining both digital and physical plays. Since I started tracking everything on BGStats, board gaming has been way too much fun😆 It’s also really interesting to see your strengths and weaknesses start to show.

The 3rd "ROOTだけ遊び尽くす会" ,a board game meetup dedicated solely to playing ROOT, will be held in Gifu. This time, it even includes meals and sweets! We have just reached full capacity! Let’s have a great time together!

Takashi Nakamura @root-bg-tk.bsky.social · 02/04/2026

Playing Digital ROOT via random matchmaking! Even with one player down, the early-game raid near my Keep was so intense. When I hit 29 pts, the chat was alive with "not yet" and "go cats!" Such a great vibe and everyone was so skilled. ROOT is truly on fire worldwide! 🌲🔥

Takashi Nakamura @root-bg-tk.bsky.social · 30/03/2026

#Today'sROOT Wife : Hundreds 30 Me : Keepers 29 Lost by 1pt! 😭 She took the clearings before I could gather my relics. Should've fought more in the early game. The Marauder factions are perfectly balanced for 2P. Highly recommend!

Takashi Nakamura @root-bg-tk.bsky.social · 20/03/2026

I woke up early this morning, so I played a solo game of ROOT. The Clockwork Expansion is amazing because it lets you enjoy both solo and cooperative play. Benjamin Schmauss is incredible! I really hope a Japanese version gets released.

My partner and I are currently obsessed with 2-player Root sessions. It only takes about 30 minutes or so—it's accessible yet deeply strategic and so much fun. It really is the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) of board games, no matter how many people are at the table!😆

ROOT JAPAN CHAMPIONSHIP 2026 has concluded! A magical time for everyone. My heart is so full. It was an absolute honor to host this incredible game in Japan. I’d love to do it all over again! Thank you, @leder.games (P.S. Unlike the Japanese habit of hiding faces in photos, mine is out there! 😂)

My board game plays for February. On days when my younger son is especially energetic, he starts using the wooden pieces for pretend play, so it’s hard to get a proper game in. But at times like that, being able to play the digital version with my wife really helps!

Takashi Nakamura @root-bg-tk.bsky.social · 17/02/2026

Lately, I’ve been really into these board games!

wife – Lord of the Hundreds – 30 VP son – Lizard Cult – 16 VP Me – Eyrie Dynasties – 9 VP Turn two, my roost got replaced by a garden and I hit Turmoil… The Hundreds rampaged through the forest! My eldest is really mastering the Lizard Cult—there are hardly any factions he can’t play now. Amazing!

Last night, in preparation for the ROOT Japan Championship, I hosted a live stream explaining the rules of ROOT for beginners and those who haven’t played in a while! I hope I was able to help more people enjoy this wonderful game.
