The next game is - South of the March store.steampowered.com/app/4628420 A beautiful pen-and paper style visual novel / JRPG. The game features an interesting and diverse cast of characters you meet as you unravel a mystery plaguing an isolated camp. Come for the art and stay for the narrative.

As part of developing a prototype for a potential visual novel / simulator, I have been playing through a bunch of broadly similar Steam Nextfest demos. So I figured I’ll post what I learned from each of them, and maybe give some recs. They’re randomly ordered, and I’ll reply to this with the first!

It’s official! I’m done with my old job and working for myself as an indie game developer. I hear a lot about how it’s tough to make any money… I also hear about how Steam has modest successes… I guess we’ll see where I end up. Wish me luck! 🗿

I’ve been playing a lot of the narrative game demos for this Steam Nextfest and this is the real star of the show for me! My friends and I were all deeply moved by this wonderful story with amazing art and music. Just a wonderful demo, the ending gave me chills! :) Congratulations to the team.

I was given the opportunity to work with @rook-zephyr-games.bsky.social to make logo for Zephyr Games. The concept is to portray gentle wind into a visual. It was a very pleasant and calming experience to draw capybara being blown by the breeze. Check out their works here! zephyrgames.dev

Just put in my notice at my job! It’s my last month before going full time into game development. Nerve-wracking and exciting in equal measure. If nothing else though, it’ll be nice not to be in all those meetings anymore.
