This Ramada Inn was purchased for $10M by the State thru Homekey & transferred to @pathpartners for $1M. It received an add’l $8.5M, incl $1.5M from HHH @ at the end of last year. Yet it has been VACANT since 2022! 7 people are dying on the streets of LA DAILY. Who is holding up this housing?

The City pays every night for all 23 rooms at this Inside Safe motel, which has a contract through 9/30, but most of the rooms stay empty:

If so, she knew exactly what she was doing, because she would be promoted to acting CEO and then CEO of LAHSA, despite displacing 72 veterans into homelessness in Echo Park.

Heidi Marston, the CEO of LAHSA made an appearance at the raid. Interestingly, she had worked at the VA for about 10 years prior to transferring to LAHSA as Chief Program Officer in 2019, just two months prior to the displacement of the veterans from Gateways Cottages.

Two years after 72 veterans were displaced from cottages at Gateways Hospital in Echo Park, and 1 mile away LAPD raided Echo Park Lake in what resembled somewhat of a warzone, ultimately displacing around 200 unhoused people.

$9M laundered to LAPD with nothing to show for it except a matrix that claims 221 people were “housed”. LAPD doesn’t have access to housing resources to distribute to the unhoused people they frequently incarcerate.

LAPD are now being paid generous overtime to “secure” locations as benign as a Metro park-and-ride lot, where A Bridge Home’s Aetna Street location, operated by The Salvation Army, stood from August 2020 to August 2023.
Mayor Eric Garcetti’s legacy “A Bridge Home” homeless shelter initiative is finally winding down as leases on many of the properties are expiring. On the aerial view, the footprint of the shelter designed by City-contracted Lehrer Architects, whose president Michael Lehrer sat on the Board of Homeless Health Care Los Angeles, is clearly visibleThat means LAPD are now being paid generous overtime to “secure” locations as benign as a Metro park-and-ride lot, where A Bridge Home’s Aetna Street location, operated by The Salvation Army, stood from August 2020 to August 2023ILLUSTRATION empty, fenced parking lot in the San Fernando Valley

The account, earmarked for housing and services for homeless people, seems to keep replenishing, only to get diverted away from the intended unhoused recipients again.
One of the Los Angeles Police Department’s many overtime sources amounts to 88,353 hours, or 10 continuous years of 24/7 overtime at $8.36M.
At a generous rate of $94.62 per hour, LAPD siphons OT from an account conspicuously called:

“Other Homeless Services-Interim Homeless Housing ‘IHHS’”.

Inside Safe $1 in $5 spent on Inside Safe has gone to LAPD. At this rate, $60M of the $300M budgeted for Inside Safe will go to LAPD instead of paying for more housing.

CORRECTION an additional $6M should have been attributed to LAPD… LAPD spent $100k in the first 100 days…& then $6M in overtime (possibly for 24/7 monitoring) from day 101 thru now?! Just like A Bridge Home & Tiny Home Villages, Inside Safe has become a money laundering project for LAPD.

Newly-elected @MayorOfLA @KarenBassLA created INSIDE SAFE as her solution for offering interim shelter & eventual permanent housing to people who live outdoors at certain locations within the City of Los Angeles, but info IE contracts, budgets & metrics have been hard to come by.
Isometric hotel graphic illustration with INSIDE SAFE. By @roofless1,400 people have moved indoors in the past 7 months.

12 motels are participating plus L.A. Grand hotel in DTLA.

77 people have been “exited” to “permanent housing”.

$40M spent + $260M more has already been approved.

Goal: House 14k people in 1 year.
