Lone pine at Olmsted Point. Probably one of Yosemite National Park's most dramatic viewpoints along Tioga Road. The little bump in the distance is Half Dome. I always used to stop here on my way to Mono Lake and the Eastern Sierra.

When we lived in California, the Christmas holidays was usually the time for roadtrips. It’s a great time to visit the deserts in California and Nevada like Death Valley (certainly avoid going there in summer!). A hidden gem is Valley of Fire near Las Vegas, where this photo was taken.
