The teacher is made to apologise to me but the damage is done. She isn't fired but she resigns, presumably to avoid saying she was sacked (not a good sign for a teacher). Nobody ever saw her again.

She rang the office and gave them an earful. An investigation is launched. It turns out this teacher has been pretty nasty and unprofessional for a while now and there's been complaints. This flouting of safeguarding practice is the straw that breaks the camel's back.

At break I rang my Mum and told her I was going to have a negative mark from the teacher she hated. Mum said "Oh, all right." Job done, my name's clear. I go home that evening and explain the story to my Mum. I tell her about how the teacher took a photo of my hand. My Mum hits the roof.

I went outside and she asked me again what it was. I said it was the Hindenburg. She got out her mobile phone and took a picture of it. Then she sent me back to class and said I'd have a negative mark on my behaviour record.

What got her sacked was this: One day, for some reason, I drew the Hindenburg on my hand. No idea why, I just did. A blimp hitting a tower and blowing up. My teacher said "What's that?" "It's the Hindenburg, ma'am." (in my school we called female teachers ma'am.) "Go outside and wait for me."

In this case I was in secondary school. This teacher took a dislike to me for being autistic and brainy basically. Her sins included telling me to "get a life" in front of my mother and calling me a wuss for not liking the smell of boiled eggs. This didn't get her sacked.

Playtime ends. Not a word is said. But Mr Cheese never oversaw playtime again. It seems that he heard the head say "No climbing on the railings" (sensible) and took that to mean "No touching the railings at all, ever." (silly). The man was a bully and a fool.

My other friend, a girl, faces the same fate. Devastated, alone on the playground, I commit harakiri by deliberately resting my neck on the railings. "WAAAAALLL." The wall, by this point, is about four children deep, all of them pretty outraged and protesting.

My two closest friends and I observe this. My friend leans with his arm against the railing - you know, the purpose of a railing. Again, we hear: "WAAAAALLL." Now I'm really upset by this because this is an obvious injustice. He wasn't climbing on the railings, just touching them.

All seems normal and then we hear this braying Welsh yell: "WAAAALL." We're all confused. A kid who didn't seem to be doing anything goes and stands on the wall in time out. We resume play. Then we hear it again. "WAAAAALLL." This goes on for the entire playtime.

space was my first hyperfixation!! i had tons of books about space and my room was decorated with space themed wallpaper and glow in the dark stars when i was a kid. in adulthood I've written an SF novel because I'm still fascinated with outer space and I'm currently working on another one :D
