What even would be the functional reason to render a still image that large?

This headline is very misleading and people are of course taking the chance to shit all over. This isnt discord. Discord itself wasnt hacked or at fault for this. Tl;dr a third party bot people willingly put on their servers had its shit hacked This has nothing to do with age verification stuff

Every game then has its own values to offer ultimately; to me they're all top notch and worth playing. Maybe I'll even get around to Skyward Sword who knows lmao

Then expanding this beyond to Wind Waker, they took that tight world building from Majora and then delivered the sense of exploration they were wanting to achieve with the horse riding introduced in Ocarina. When I play Twilight Princess again I think I'll be able to see this fully realized.

Rolf the New Apartment @rolfthewhatever.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

OoT of course had to put its focus on gameplay because it was the first of its kind in the series, but with that foundation already built it allowed Nintendo to flesh out that gameplay in neat levels and a better fleshed out world. There aren't many dull locations in Termina!

Rolf the New Apartment @rolfthewhatever.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

Looking past the whole aesthetic of Majora, the tighter constraints it had with its development really made them focus on the world and it makes the game really rich with details in a way that's unique from Ocarina

Rolf the New Apartment @rolfthewhatever.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

Even Zelda 2, while being different at a glance with its gameplay, has fundamental gameplay ideas that would still get worked into later titles. You mix that with what Link to the Past did and thats really where you get Ocarina onward.

Rolf the New Apartment @rolfthewhatever.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

Almost done with Majora's Mask. The biggest revelation from actually beating this is the gradual upgrades and improvements in each entry of the series, at least with the home console entries. Every game from the NES up to Twilight Princess has something sharpened that earlier entries introduced.

Where's Wind Waker has three whole dungeons and all the side content after where the Magic Armor has potential purpose, including the Savage Labyrinth.

100

Rolf the New Apartment @rolfthewhatever.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

I agree with that on some of the heart pieces, but I do actually like that you get the Magic Armor when you do because it'll make it more likely to be used throughout the game. Its equivalent in Ocarina, Nayrus Love, in the intended sequence means it only gets used in two dungeons.

It's not uncommon for space cargo pilots to triple in size on their long delivery trips... So Air Traffic Control should probably be less surprised when the standard issue space fatigues barely fit at all 🐴
