I’m trying to to teach my teenage daughter that if you see something on the internet that seems unlikely to have happened, it’s probably not true. The insanity of this presidency is testing that advice. Every day he says something more unbelievable than the day before. It’s is absolutely WTF.

I’m Canadian, but my daughter and I watched videos much of yesterday evening. She is 14. At school today they will also spend time learning about the event. I will never forget how it felt. So much trauma and loss for so many. 💔

Ran into these adorable critters today. I actually had to honk my horn to get them to move. I’d seen them around before but never on the road. Apparently a house nearby feeds them. 😬. Hopefully they develop a respect of the road before they get hit. Still super cool to see.

I love my job. And I love the people I work with and for. I’m lucky. But I love my family, hobbies, time off more. 🤷‍♀️. I certainly wouldn’t be there for 45 hours a week without a pay check. That’s nuts.

I was sad when my daughter started filtering her choices through the eyes of others. Fortunately, if you are very fortunate, you come back to that awareness that what others think is not at all relevent. Thank you for sharing. This made me smile and think of those years with my daughter.

One day and my then 11 year old (avid reader) asked what I was reading and if I was enjoying it. I wasn’t. It was boring. She said ‘why don’t you stop reading it and pick something else’. It had never occurred to me I could do that. Time is valuable. Don’t waste it on something you don’t love.

Not once did I consider I might have all the knowledge my daughter needs to become her best self. I am grateful to the incredible teachers she’s had. They have taught her more than k ever could. That said, not all homeschooling is bad. There are good reasons to make that decision.

I try to answer her questions with questions; ‘what do you think you should do?’ ‘Where do you think you could find the answer?’ It takes time and effort. Sometimes one of the other of us doesn’t have the energy for it. 😂. But she can have more space because I trust her skills. Great read.

For older kids, immediate access to a parent via cell phones has created dependence on so many ways. They ask rather than solve dilemmas on their own. I have to remember to be very intentional with my 13 year old to do a good job raising her with confident independence.

I think writing is very brave. There isn’t much that makes someone more vulnerable than putting words to paper. Opening their imaginations to all. I don’t even have the courage to journal. I want to but it makes me uncomfortable. Keep writing. Some of us love reading and are grateful to writers.

Is fostering an option where you live? Some organizations need homes and people to help socialize the animals in their care. They cover expenses and would find take the animals back if necessary. It would be hard to say goodbye I expect, but also rewarding. ❤️

My daughter is 13. I JUST did that last week! Searched his speeches and we watched a bunch together. He lives the mantra ‘with great power comes great responsibility’ where so many others use their power for their own benefit and harm so many.
