Labour got away with this shit, and then proceeded to get into government and steam ahead just like any other recent tory government before them

I remember how amazingly following this logic went when Starmer in opposition was welcoming Tory MP defectors into the "big tent". One of them was even from the *right of the tories* and had been found attempting to sway judges sentencing her husband who was convicted of 3 counts of sexual assault

The day when "thumb" photo/"image 76" and the various reaction photo worthy selfies dropped in that Google drive was also a highlight. The F1 discord I'm in went feral that day (and still has a couple of Horner face emotes from it)

Every fit Famke Janssen has in this movie is incredible tbh, makes it worth the watch on that grounds alone

Best part of their region lock? Part of the process to change it is (which is apparently a one time thing you have to do via HP support) is that you have to print a verification page off, which requires all your cartridges to be working/not empty. So you can't change it when you're out of *any* ink.

This should be recognised as the actually moderate position that it is. Dismantling the authoritarian BS that Bush, Cheney et al forced through in the wake of 9/11 shouldn't be controversial. The useful parts of DHS already had homes outside DHS before it was created and turbocharged their powers

It once notified me it was out of toner. I just selected the option that was basically "nope, toner is still good" and it went back to printing hundreds more pages. HP would have sent a SWAT team out before letting me do that with my old printer lol

My Brother laser printer has been a godsend in that aspect, I fought HP and their jank software and region locked ink cartridges for so long that having a printer/copier/scanner that just does the thing reliably with lightweight software has been unbelievable.

Oh absolutely. "please give us more money, and also regulate us in the specific and exact limited ways we're asking to be regulated because we're telling you we made a potentially dangerous piece of malware" is such an inherently fucked line, regardless of any level of truth behind it.

AI companies stumbling ass backwards into making malware that infects devices that the producers of those products are desperately trying to awkwardly shoehorn AI into is kinda ironic though

I mean they're basically saying they've created a worm that will exploit low security IoT devices in much the same way other malware has done in the past. But they've dressed it up with the "spooky unstoppable digital intelligence" costume instead of risking people deciding to treat it as malware

Like today is forecast to top out at 20°C in the middle of the day, yesterday it was 20°C and 92% humidity at 6:30am, just after sunrise. Yesterday morning in a sports bra and shorts I was still drowning in sweat at the gym, today I feel like I need to wrap up in warm layers to go outside.

Currently the weather here is alternating between "cold enough to need the heating on" and "hot enough to need the AC on", sometimes as often as across the same day. I'm sure that's a good and normal thing

In response to the information that the US were torturing prisoners in Iraq using Metallica he variously said over the years: "If the Iraqis aren't used to freedom, then I'm glad to be part of the exposure" and "I'm honored my country is using something to help us stay safe" He's pure trash
In 2008, responding to the use of Metallica's music to torture Iraqi prisoners, Hetfield was unoffended and replied, "If the Iraqis aren't used to freedom, then I'm glad to be part of their exposure."[47] British band Chumbawamba subsequently released a song called "Torturing James Hetfield" in response.[48] In a 2017 interview, Hetfield reaffirmed his previous stance, saying, "I'm honored my country is using something to help us stay safe, if they are. But then again, once the music is out, I don't have control over that. Just like how someone's giving it away online. They're using it to do what they do

Got a follow up appointment letter through from neurology, it's in fecking December. The initial anti-seizure medication script they gave me, without any repeats because it was being followed up at the next appointment, runs out on October 31st. What. The. Fuck.

Oh I fully expect there'll be a bunch of people with an "oh no! They're forcing me to take the estrogen! I have absolutely no say in the matter, this is terrible! Oh well, time to empty this maccas of all their Szechwan sauce stock *despite* that" reaction, and that's part of the beauty of the plan.

I might be in the second best shape of my life (that summer after finishing school at 18, where I'd been doing ~6 on water rowing sessions and 4 gym sessions per week and suddenly had proper rest periofds was crazy), but my brain tells me "no, you can't do that" still

Weather conditions overcoming my brainworms over my appearance at the gym this morning. Usually never would have the confidence to wear just a sports bra and shorts to work out even, but 20°C and 92% humidity at 6:45am forced my hand today

Screenshot of the NSW government fuelcheck service that allows you to see the price of different fuel types at different servos in your area super easily.

It also has this page that shows price trends and averages.

Currently the cheapest E10/U91 fuel in NSW is 219.5 with the highest being 58.4 cents more per litre at 277.9

The 7 day average graph shows a pretty consistent increase over the past 7 days, from just below 237.0 last Tuesday to the current 240.5 Today (Monday)

not to be too alarmist but it's really hard to look at the increasing number of theatres of conflict opening up now and not see this as the rollout to world war three

Saw a couple of Australasian Swamphens on the way back from the gym, hoping they might hang around the wetlands area for a bit so might head down with my dslr in a bit and try and get a photo of them, because they're pretty striking looking birds. Reference below for those who don't know them
A medium sized wetland bird with long red legs walling through some shallow water. Their plumage is a mix of a deep blue-indigo and black with a red beak and forehead shield.

The 2022 Saudi GP sessions with the burning oil depot just 10km down the road, which was struck by a Houthi missile strike, in the background of several camera angles was certainly something to see. And then the clear Saudi refusal to let the drivers leave after their initial comments about gtfo

And hilariously the FIA will still claim that the Qatar and Abu Dhabi GPs are going to happen amidst all of this.

It's like how I can hear okay, but only in one ear which can make it kinda jank listening to speech in noisy environments and also tracks through to some sound mixing choices in media being hard to parse. So despite being able to hear, captions on videos can help a lot at times.

Apartheid era South Africa also had nukes (somewhat ironicly likely with assistance from Israel), and the program only got dismantled in advance of the anticipated change to ANC leadership of the country. So I feel like the comparison is especially apt here

Turns out, several decades of gloss paint touch ups and recoats on a thing you can't entirely nuke with noxious chemicals (because it has to stay in the middle of your house) is a fucking pain. Especially when it's a waisted profile rail. I at least didn't plan for the spindles to be stripped back

I long ago decided it would be a fun to start a project to sand back the stair railings to the richly coloured natural wood that was showing though in some places underneath where the paint had worn away. A couple of years later I'm actually finishing that project and fuck me it's so much effort

But there's still no clear motive on that one, so it's hard to know if it belongs in the terrorism list or not. Similarly the beltway sniper would be higher too, but given it was a prolonged spree of individual shootings it's a bit of a grey area on being a singular "attack"

Spotted this little white faced heron chilling on a driveway while walking back from the gym yesterday. No idea what they were doing so far from obvious water but cool to see nonetheless.
A white faced heron, with white plumage around its eyes and throat (hence the name), and blue-grey feathers across the rest of it, stood on a concrete driveway besides a flowerbed full of various different flowers

Too many people are *already* getting to a point where they get angry/upset with media for not treating the characters in the story that studio is telling in the exact way they themself would headcanon them. We don't need this getting worse. I want to be told a tale by a writer, not told to DIY it

Another reason I'm glad I'm leaving NSW soon. NSW cops are already cooked enough without adding an extra layer of ego-tripping cunts with long rifles marching around the streets. They'll already taser a 95 year old woman, who needed a walker, to death and repeatedly target queer bars for drug raids

He did mention the other day, while sephiroth posting again, that if he ran things by comms then nothing would get posted so he just ignored them. So makes sense they'd have fired them because otherwise they're paying someone to do absolutely nothing but question their own sanity constantly
demon core vidal:

i am again going to politely entreat on you to stop posting about any policy anything without running it past your comms team. as politely as possible, you are not actually capable of being appropriately objective, which you *should* be when talking about policy

aaron rodericks

Yes I've tried that and we then don't post anything. See nearly any post from the safety account as an example.
Users keep demanding policy explanations daily and then make up their own random stories when there's usually an objective and repeatable process on our end (since we train mods).
