We have a local family that just likes to hang out.

Also the promo posters for #MadeInKorea are terrific.

I’ve said it before but it’s worth saying again. #MadeInKorea is SO good. I just finished it, and wow. Easily one of the best #kdrama of the last decade.

These are the shows that stood out the most to me. YMMV.

I love it when a #kdrama tries to get the little things right. On the left is a shot of Sejongno in 1979, and on the right, the same road IRL in 2023 (from Wikipedia). #MadeInKorea

An establishing shot from the Korean series Made In Korea of Sejongno looking northwards circa 1979. Note the Gyeongbokgung Palace gate with the Japanese occupation-era admin building in the back. That building was torn down in the 90s.

A photo of the real Sejongno looking northwards in 2023. Note the Gyeongbokgung Palace gate now with the walking plaza in the foreground and no Japanese occupation-era building.

Ah yes, a trope so common it’s hard to think of just one #kdrama that embodies it. Still, there has never been an interfering relation who went as hard as Kim Joo-won’s mother in #SecretGarden. She was remorseless, unapologetic, and never gave in. Absolute queen of evil drama moms.

Reverse harems are uncommon in #kdrama since the focus tends to be on (easily resolved) love polygons. I think #MrSunshine is a good example, where every man on the show is inexplicably in love with the FL. 🤷🏻‍♀️ (I’m aware that Go Ae-sin is Joseon, etc. Nobody ever said Kim Eun-sook was subtle).

Poster for Korean series Mr Sunshine from 2018 showing a man in the foreground dressed in U.S. military attire seated next to a man in samurai garb. Behind them is a man in Victorian era western attire, a woman in a Joseon-era hanbok and a woman in formal 19th century western attire.

Day 3: Not me interpreting sudden shower as an actual shower and not rain. 🤦🏻‍♀️😂 But anyway, there are a million #kdrama scenes that fit the bill, so I’ll give you this my favorite. Long before Sun-jae and a yellow umbrella, there was Hyun-jae and the yellow umbrella in #HitTheTop from 2017.

Frozen apple cider is one of the best ideas the UMN folks at the fair have had, IMO.

#EMAW fam, it’s happening! (Don’t ask me what “it” means here, lol)

Of course Bill Snyder would show up to a practice in a full suit, and never mind the sweltering heat. And of course he would refer to the new head coach as “young man”.

I have a whiteboard at work. During the COVID shutdowns, my paralegal left me a message in Sharpie and neither of us have been able to erase it in 5 years! It’s now art.

Exactly how dumb is Texas Tech looking right now? Here’s a clue. Even Kansas AG Kris Kobach is against them.

Day 3: Eunuch characters are a staple in sageuk #kdrama. They serve a variety of purposes, often as well-rounded characters who are also sympathetic rather than just being power brokers. A great example is the warm and funny Heo Sam-bo (Sung Ji-ru) in #RookieHistorianGooHaeRyung.

Day 2: Ok, I may be posting this just because it’s from #MyLovelySamSoon, aka one of the best #kdrama of all-time. Here’s a very young Kim Nam-gil playing a very young Hyun Bin’s supportive doctor friend in the drama.

Still of Kim Nam-Gil and Hyun Bin in My Lovely Sam Soon, in which KNG plays a doctor and HB plays a man who dresses in the dark and brushes his hair with a lollipop.

Yes! #UndertheQueensUmbrella is my choice too. Kim Hye-soo was terrific as the titular queen, and I also thought the character was so well written.

I really liked what Isha Ambani put together for her #MetGala appearances, highlighting Indian arts and crafts and textiles.

Isha Ambani wears a hand painted sari with hand painted jasmine-inspired flowers in her hair and carrying a famous mango sculpture as her handbag.

Isha Ambani wears a Manish Malhotra dress made with 26 pieces of fabric, each representing textile crafts from a different region of India.

Pretty sure I’m breaking some rules by not focusing this solely on CFB feelings/hate, but there are no rules, right?

Is it just me or is the resolution on Spencer getting worse every year?

Day 5: Though villain is not his usual wheelhouse, Lee Dong-wook played Seo Moon-jo, one of the most charismatic and chilling negative characters of all-time in the #kdrama horror/mystery #StrangersFromHell.

RK @rohtweets.bsky.social · 06/04/2026

Day 4: I still think #BeMelodramatic features the best depiction of adult friendship in #kdrama. That said, I also want to tip my hat to a couple of newer dramas that were also great at depicting adult friendship: #DivorceAttorneyShin from 2023 and this year’s #UndercoverMissHong. #ChinguChallenge

And yet these same people view women wearing hijab as oppressed and rail against sharia law. At least be consistent with your nonsense, people. Is that too much to ask?
