But it was half-hearted...I couldn't force the burden on her...and I had other reasons not to go..." Sylvi takes off her hat, showing a hand that's full of scars, and walks towards Louhi. She continues: "I AM angry...at myself, for not going all in and preparing her...but...it paid off regardless...! Old hag, don't bother with your threats and demands. And sometimes it only takes one person to cause that critical crack. You both know what I'm saying, don't you? That's why we're all here, now. Aure was a crazy one, there's no doubt about that. But only crazy enough to match energy with the North. Not crazier than this country, that has kept believing in the order of today. And so, she didn't crack the structure. *shows Dande's grandma clashing with Ukko, shattering each other's drinking pints, with conflicted grins.* I should be angry... I'm sure my co-worker is giving her a stern talking to as we speak. *shows Varma looming over Dande* But...how could I be...? She really went and did it...!!!" Sylvi's calm demeanor is broken as her eyes widen with excitement.

Louhi, now bursting into a wrathful scream, as a three-eyed bird head peeks out from under her hood: THE WORLD YOU WERE BORN INTO...IS TOO SMALL FOR YOU TO SURVIVE WITHOUT US!!!" Marjatta, Kohonen, Sylvi and mister Flutterbuck are look at Louhi in silence, as a better view of the world map on the wall behind them is revealed (though many parts are still covered). Most countries have large chunks missing, both from within and from the edges, as if partly swallowed by the seas. There are landmasses that don't exist in real life, such as a gigantic sword shaped island, an island housing what seems to be a giant egg, and of course the Northland above Finland, cosisting of five islands, four small ones and a larger one in the middle, with a sixts one above the main one and between the upper two small ones housing the World Tree, the top of which is cut off by the edge of the map.

Her days on the throne of this world are numbered, at last I am sure of that much." Louhi: "...Huh?" Marjatta: "I wish I was as free-spirited as you, Sylvia. But even if that is our future, what we must operate within is the now. That being said... Louhi...your behaviour is certainly more flagrant than before. As if you've simply stopped caring... Perhaps the time is nigh indeed...to reconsider the relationship between Finland and the Northland. You ought to know that I do not take insinuations of war lightly, and you have more than crossed that line in this one conversation." As Marjatta speaks, her smile doesn't fade, but becomes more toothy, her face starts to become shaded, and veins appear on her crossed hands. Louhi: "You brats... You think you have an ounce of leverage against me? Once upon a time you might've been able to rely on other alliances...but you are five hundred years too late...to challenge my authority...!!"

He stops in front of his glasses, picks them up, puts them back on and returns to his position next to the president, with his earlier deadpan expression, as Louhi side-eyes him. The guard and housemaid Sandstorm mentioned have already been killed by him, skewered on top of each other on his wrist blade that looks way longer than what should fit inside his wrist protector. The housemaid has her arms over the guard's shoulders, as if to embrace him in death. Louhi, not looking remorseful in the slightest: "OOPSIE DAISY!! The boy is too eager! KOKOKOKOKOKO!!! We still need a third, in exchange for Aure's girl!" Sandstorm: "Hm, last night's supper was a tad too greasy for me..." Louhi: "Time to find a new chef, I say!! Shall we make a deal, Marjatta, my dear?!" Marjatta remains composed, but her eyes are starting to show anger. As Sandstorm and Louhi speak, Kohonen hears someone somewhere to his side go: "Hey, that's off-limits!!!"

The man called Sandstorm is wearing a helmet, shoulder pads, wrist protectors with short blades, leather pants, a belt with an S buckle, and has a long, double bladed staff on his back. He responds with a grin: "Hmm... One of the guards and a housemaid have been taking longer breaks recently... I suspect a workplace romance." Louhi: "That'll suffice, bring them here!" Marjatta: "Louhi...don't do anything foolish." Louhi: "Now, now, who do you think I am? Of course we will grant them a chance to explain!" Sandstorm: "Oh..." He has already returned, hanging something on a long blade that has come out of his right wrist protector. On the corner of the panel, a pair of boots and one more right behind them are seen, with blood dripping down them.

On the other side of the fiery swan ring is the mistress of the North, Louhi "old hag" Ilmari. One of her eyes is sharp, and the other wide open. Her face is partly shaded by the veil on her head. She is missing several teeth. She continues: "Unless you'd rather PERSONALLY uproot the weeds on your own backyard!!" Marjatta: "Louhi... You banished Ukko from the Northland yourself. And are you sure that your little prince played no part in inciting him? Two of my countrymen lost their lives thanks to your clown show. You understand that I can't simply hand over a third, don't you?"

Next to her stands Kohonen, a lanky man with a deadpan expression, a thin twirly mustache, and a matching pompadour. On Marjatta's desk are a Finnish flag stand and some papers, where a glimpse of what appears to be a picture of Dande fighting Ukko can be seen. On the wall behind them a large world map can be partly seen. Marjatta, with a smile: "Why, that is why I am calling you, though. Don't you hear it? The birds are singing. They tell tales of the awakening...of your husbands killer. Across her desk is large, talonless swan, which torso is in the shape of a ring. From inside the ring, a large, hooded head with a long, hooked nose is peaking out, and responds: "...I believed that Ukko would take her with him...but...I see... Aure's grandchild lives... In the distance, small hills can be seen. Four giant Finnish flags are hanging from the elk's horns. There's a lightning shaped hole on the elk's head, and on its snout is a clock. A person with a flower hat is walking up the stars to the building, saying: "Makes me sick...every time I see it." Inside, people are talking inside a room guarded by soldiers with elk horns on their helmets. Above the door is a large portrait of a buff, shirtless man whose mustache and hair seem jagged like Ukko Ilmari's, but without the beard. Someone inside the room says: "This better be important, Marjatta... The swans of Tuoni aren't cell phones meant for your leisure. Moreover... I still suffer of heartbreak."

A comic page from Dandelion. Turns out Malin tried to punch Varma from behind, but was stopped by a kick from Masara. Varma: "My bad. You won't tell, will you?" He didn't flinch at all from the attempted attack, nor is he turning to face Malin. Emilia is in the background, with her face shaded and some water flowing around her. Masara sends Malin sliding further away from Varma, who says: "Eloranta, keep your patient in bed. At least YOU'VE got a good head on your shoulders. For now. Watch it, you'll wet yourself." Emilia looks angry, and her head is now inside a flying swirl of water, from a fish tank next to her (the fish is in the water, confused). Emilia relaxes her expression and returns the water to the tank (the fish looks at her, annoyed), thinking: "Don't let him provoke you..." Malin: "Since we're already fighting, wouldn't that do for a test? *Emilia and Masara look surprised* You're right, I'm not good enough like this. But if you give me some time, I'll prove that I can at least look after myself!"

Truth be told, if I was in charge, the whole trip would probably be cancelled. That thing really bit the world's strongest old man in half, and has already gone berserk once in just a few days. And now that its favourite human's fate is uncertain...it may only be a matter of time before it turns on you again. So... *close up to Malin's eyes sharpening with her face covered in shadow* ...wouldn't it be safest for everyone, if we just put it down in its sleep?" Some kind of impact behind Varma shakes the window curtain's in front of him. Varma: "Mm.. I thought I might get away with that...when Dandelion isn't around."

A woman has appeared behind Dande, literally holding a gun to the back of her head. Malin: "M-Masa?!" She is Masara Halkomäki, formally introduced with Varma in chapter 2. Dande looks at the flame around her hand and suddenly seems shocked, thinking: "W-Wait, what am I...?! Shit...!!" She deactivates the flames, and Masara pulls her gun away. Malin: "Dande, it's okay!! I actually...agree with them...that I've yet to prove myself..." Dande looks at Malin, surprised. Malin: "That's why this was...MY idea!"

And thought it was only fair to allow you to bear witness to it. So thanks to your nap, she's had ample time to prepare. If she passes, I'll leave you to your own devices. And if she fails...she will leave immediately, and all future recruitments will have to go through us first-" "Save it." Dande cuts Varma off right as he's finishing his sentence. Dande: "That's something you should've brought up with Sylvi a long time ago. Aren't you just taking out your frustration over me on Malin? And talk to her directly when she's here. If you wanna punish me, I don't mind at all. Unless... *Dande's hair and fists catch fire* ...you're really that scared...of a little weed." Malin looks shocked: "D-Dande...!" Suddenly Dande hears a clicking sound behind her, and someone speaks: "HEY, HEY!! Aren't you a letting the heat leak a little too easily?! Flaunting the flames that burned away the world's strongest man without a trace in front of my chief like that..." *page ends mid sentence*

I suppose the simple fact is that that animal happened to imprint onto you like a baby to a mother. And we are just as much at the mercy of the giant's whims as you are now. *shows Dande as a child, standing in front of Siru. Both are beat up, and Siru's tree has no leaves* So...our hands are effectively tied when it comes to you. And hey, fair enough, you CAN fight at least. But what exactly qualifies you to decide who gets to accompany you? Eloranta was chosen by Sylvi, and that 'butler' does seem capable. However...THAT one... *points at Malin* ...I'm not so sure about." Dande seems shocked to hear the topic shift from herself to Malin. Varma: "She has some strength from her size alone, but no real combat experience, special powers, or other notable skillset. And quite frankly, her personality seems more like a liability to me. A good heart alone doesn't cut it. Also, she's distracting. More clothes, please." Malin, seeming more offended by this than the other criticism: SURE, WHEN I FEEL LIKE IT!!! A TOP AND SHORTS ARE BASIC STUFF!!" Varma: "Not on you. Apparently you two are an item. Good for you, but...this isn't a holiday trip."

We sure will!" Varma: "Apologies for ruining the wholesome moment, but I too must be realistic here, and tell you straight, Dandelion...that if it were up to me, you would be fired immediately." Malin: "AND THERE IT IS!!! *hugs Dande tighter while hissing like a snake* Dande simply looks down in silence, not seeming to oppose what Varma is saying. Varma: "First you allow the turtle to get stolen, and then endanger it by challenging Ukko Ilmari with no word to a higher authority. Bet you haven't even bothered to rack your brain with the political implications of his death."

Siru's eyes are now wide open and she is intensely glaring at Malin and the other's direction.

Dande instantly recognizes this and covers her face. "Ah, right... We've met..." Dande had posed and talked to the man like this when she was working at Ruffe's store. "The name's Varma. Believe it." The man is Aadesh Varma from the Lioneye Agency. As Dande gets over her embarrassment she looks at Siru and says: "Siru hasn't...come out of her shell while I was gone, has she?" Varma: No...and without your powers we couldn't move her via shrinking. So Sylvi asked us to cover for you. Dande, while bowing slightly: "...Thank you. Sorry for the trouble." Varma: "It's paid work. And the hours weren't unreasonable...thanks to a certain someone sprinting here more or less daily." *looks at Malin, who looks back, looking a bit more serious than before.* Dande: "...?"

A comic page from Dandelion. Malin instantly falls asleep in the back seat, while taking the opportunity to let the car's air conditioning take her of her nemesis, underboob sweat. Emilia, while side-eyeing Dande who is glancing at Malin through the mirror: "Surprised she didn't drag you to the back with her... Well, she HAS been taking this pretty seriously." Dande: "What?" Emilia: "Her entrance exam." Dande: "...?!" Over at Siru, a man hears Dande and co's car arrive. Malin struggles to get out of the car, as it only has two doors and you have to cram yourself past the front seat. Dande, thinking: "I did offer shotgun, but..." *shows Malin giving a thumbs-up while crawling into the car, which seemingly wasn't as much of a struggle, and Dande thumbs-upping back, while sweating because butt. Dande offers her hand and pulls Malin out of the car with a "Hop!" While the two still hold hands and are looking at each other up close they both seem to notice something. Malin quickly pulls her hand away and turns around, while Dande looks down. Malin: "L-Let's hurry, Siru's waiting...!" Emilia goes "..." while looking at Malin with a somewhat sad expression.

A comic page from Dandelion. Despite looking like she was about to fall, Malin does a backwards hand flip, landing on one foot and doing double peace sign. "JUST KIDDIIING!!" The one-armed old man goes: "Hahah, classic Malin!" Malin tries to grin confidently but the swirl in her one open eye tells that perhaps that display wasn't as effortless than she made it out to be. In a close-up of her eye the swirl is then overtaken by Dande as Malin notices that she's finally up. The two smile at each other. Malin and the elderly group wave goodbye to each other as Emilia says: "They got real physiotherapists here, you know, you don't have to do this every day... Have you rested? And are you going like that? Don't need anything else?" Malin: Took it to the cottage already!" Dande: "...?" After a bit, the three are in a car, with Emilia on the wheel. Emilia: "We can drive there now that there's no lightning. I think I'm the only one of us with a license..."

Though she instantly regrets the example she set as an elderly woman from the group follows suit with a jump of her own. "LAINA, WATCH YOUR BACK!!!" An old man with one arm says: "Malin has too much energy, it's contagious!" Malin: "It's all thanks to you guys, you kn-*she appears to faint mid sentence* -ooow..." Malin falls on her back in front of everyone, but only Dande looks worried. Before her head hits the ground, she puts her hands down and rolls up, as if to prepare for a handstand or a hand jump.

A comic page from Dandelion. Dande starts freaking out and grabbing her chest from where the heart is, while holding a piece of paper in her other hand. Emilia: "H-Hey, what's wrong?!" She rushes to Dande. "DANDELIO-" but then notices what's on the paper she's holding. It is a seemingly nude drawing of Malin with "Rise and shine!!" written next to her. Emilia's worry for Dande (who looks more dizzy than ill. Her hair is slightly on fire and steam is coming off of her) fades as she stares at the drawing in disgust, thinking: "...Seriously... This is a hospital... Think of the cardiac patients! Don't artists have any self-respect?" Dande then realizes Emilia is looking at the drawing and tries to hide it. "Chill out, there's nothing there I haven't seen, as a doctor... Anyway, your vitals seem to be functioning, so let's get going. Won't do us well to keep them waiting even longer. As Dande's head clears she notices another drawing taped to the wall of her locker and smiles. It is a drawing of Siru with the text "Get well soon!" Dande: "Sure well won't."

Dande seems positively wide eyed at the thought of her having healing powers at first but then remembers Catdelion's words: "Is there anything in this world...that you COULDN'T burn?" and says: "M-Maybe... But I wouldn't count on it..." Emilia: "Well, there's undeniably something...but of course I can't have you taking my job!" Dande then notices the pebble that was left on her hand by the old man on the table next to her, and takes it to look at it closer. Emilia: "You were holding that when we found you. Took a few days to loosen your grip... *shows Emilia trying her hardest to pry open a sleeping Dande's hand* Do you want to...talk about it?" Dande clenches the fist holding the pebble and says: "No." She then notices something else on her table and starts sweating profusely.

A comic page from Dandelion. Dande cracks her neck nonchalantly, but then notices Emilia looking at her, upset and slightly teary eyed. "H-Hey, come on...!" Emilia: Idiot... Buckle up and find that courage, then. She deserves it." She continues in her head: "If 'SOMEONE' was all you needed, there was another option, you know..." Dande: Thank you...for protecting her." Emilia: "No... I was too optimistic in the moment...but the condition I found her in...was not thanks to lake Kilpis. *flashback to Emilia finding Malin where the old man's attack left her in, but no longer stuck in a wall as the whole was made bigger, seemingly by burning, and her face, while still bruised, looking less bloody and more peaceful* The way you can stabilize Siru's brain when she's shrunk...and how well you seem to function after a near month's sleep... Dandelion, I believe your flames...have some healing properties."

Dande, looking a lot less worried now: "Yeah I wasn't...really planning on to anyway... Respects to the moms and all, but I don't want anything growing inside of me. (Especially in this economy...)" Emilia: "V-Valid..." Dande: By the way, I heard your voice. And sorry, but...that was wrong, too. I don't have the courage to love... It's just something I thought...I could do for someone."

A comic page from Dandelion. Malin falls to her knees and keeps covering her eyes as she tries to hold back a cry. An old man she walked past just before sees her and calls out: "H-Hey! Malin!! What's wrong?!" Back to Dande, the reason for Malin's strong reaction is revealed, as Dande responds to something Emilia has just told her with: "Three...weeks?" Emilia: "Yes... For ten days you were in a full coma, and...even after your body had healed, you just...didn't wake up... To be honest, as much as I wanted to reassure Malin, I was starting to be at a loss there." Dande, looking at her hand: "Damn... No wonder my wounds are all gone." She then notices something on her abdomen and says: "Well, almost..."

Right after Dande had woken up and Malin told her they should go see Siru, Emilia is pushing Malin out of the room. Malin: "Wha... But that was such a nice moment...!" Emilia: "Sure was, but you said IF she can move, and I still need to make sure of that. Just endure a bit longer, you need to get ready anyway. I'll call you when we leave. Malin: S-See you soon, Dande!!" Dande: "Yeah..." Malin smiles at Dande as she walks off, but then we cut to her smile breaking in present, as she thinks: "Just...a little more..." and covers her eyes.
