I started this poem of grief and resolve when Russia invaded Ukraine, added to it when Hamas attacked Israel... & when Israel began bombing Gaza. It found this final form when my husband was diagnosed with cancer. (Sing it to Remo Giazotto's "Adagio in G Minor," (also attributed to Albinoni.)

I shaped it from a failed Carissa Holly shrub that was badly root-bound before I had planted it in our yard. I'm fairly sure I over-fertilized it, too. Here's my favorite Twiglys (pronounced Twig-lees) & its shadow. The end with leaves comes from the trunk & branches of a small, dead shrub. The left half came from the roots. I shaped the head by soaking a root, bending it, and then holding it in that shape with a strong rubber band until it dried.
