An explanation on why Big Walk isn't available on Xbox. bigwalk.game/xbox

Regarding Xbox

In June 2026 we announced that the release of Big Walk would be limited to computers, Switch 2 and PS5. Since then, we have received many messages and comments, asking about a future Xbox release. We would like to address those questions here:

We have made the decision not to release Big Walk on Xbox, in accordance with the Palestinian-led BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement’s call to boycott Microsoft, and their designation of Microsoft Games (and Xbox) as a priority boycott target. If you need help understanding our motives, we would recommend reading about why Microsoft is a BDS priority target, the successes this kind of pressure has already had on Microsoft, and especially, watching this great introductory piece by People Make Games.

It has always been our intention for Big Walk to be played by groups of friends, and we know that keeping the game off Xbox runs counter to those intentions. This decision means that some people will miss out on playing Big Walk with their friends, and we understand the disappointment we’re causing. We are disappointed too.

We would love for people to be able to play the game on Xbox, but not until Microsoft and/or Xbox have been removed as BDS boycott targets.

We’ve made this decision with the belief that meaningful change can be made in the world, that coordinated collective action can confront even the most powerful interests, and that one day, Palestine will be free.

I also just played Inkles OVERBOARD and I love how the game gives you secondary objectives to encourage you to play again and figure out how to do everything you need to do in the short time frame. Amazing what's going on in the smaller game space.

It's already something that is heavily debated with many RPG branching story game. But when you add in a time mechanic you're adding an extra layer of locking players off from content unless they replay and then is the content they see compelling enough to make them want to replay?

I think another reason we don't really see the ticking time mechanic outside of some of the issues with how players engage with it that you outline is there is a question in game development on whether or not it is worth your time to develop content that a player may not see.

That is to emphasize your point that we should not just be ignorant to the realities of this technology and how people are using it because by being informed on it we're better able to have conversations with others and also protect them from the nefarious side effects.

I also just saw an excellent video that said that people who are informed about the inherent issues of AI issues of AI use are much less likely to use AI and people who have used AI who don't feel shame. Talking about it are much more open to being educated to the limitations and end abusing us

Honestly my biggest problem with AI is it's such a f****** broad term. I don't know what people mean. Some things that people call AI have been in use for decades and are great and some things are garbage. Some things would be fine with very specific uses.

And while I wish I didn't have an HOA it was HOA for a newer home or an older home I couldn't afford to refurbish. Yeah, technically a choice but not much of one.

It would not be up to city code for a public Street so if there was no HOA these 6 houses would not exist. The HOA made it possible for a large lot to be decided into multiple family homes which is awesome! It would be better if we didn't need the HOA but it's the current system

Yeah but in some areas it again is the only option for multi -family units. My house for instance, is on a lot that used to be a ranch home. The lot was divided into space for six homes and we have an HOA because there is a private Street that all the homes on that the HOA maintains

Most new builds have HOAs now. There are a few reasons for this, one is the builders offer run management companies (continuing revenue) and they can ignore some city rules for things like road width and sidewalks if the HOA will be maintaining them VS the city which means they can maximize profits

I just realized I scheduled a primary care appointment for my daughter last month and I never got any notification for it because it was after her birthday and in California parents lose access to their kids medical information once they turn 12 for their privacy (which I totally get and understand)
