iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

Okay just been sat here for the last half hour doomscrolling. Lol proved my own point. Deleting the app. See ya XD

I do wanna share something positive which is that at the grand age of 37 I've become a Dan and Phil fan. For some reason I find it very comforting to watch videos by two millenial queer men who grew up in England, are into video games and anime and had emo phases. Cause that's super relatable XD

So I put Bluesky on my phone again in case anyone replied to the thread I did and in that time I have searched to see if people hate some stuff I've been enjoying lately three times and gotten drawn into reading replies on video game controversies four times. It's been an hour. This is what I mean

A while ago, I decided to take a social media break for mental health reasons. I removed apps from my phone and put time limits on some. I needed time to consider my relationship with social media and now I’ve realised I need to put my feelings out there so I can move forward.

Screw it, one more thought I've mulled over lately - people have absolutely no sense of what is and isn't mainstream knowledge anymore. Any time someone says 'everyone knew this, you have no excuse' all I can think is how many massively successful YouTubers I never heard of until the scandal.

Nate @rogosprout.bsky.social · 05/11/2025

I took a social media break a few months ago because it was having severe negative side effects to my mental health and... frankly... that is still true. I wanted to do a quick update for bluesky of 'yeah I'm still alive, I'm just not here' I doubt I'll ever go back to regular posting.

Nate @rogosprout.bsky.social · 08/08/2025

Okay just removing the app from the Home screen did not stop me doomscrolling and falling into despair as I see yet more things I find joy in being ruined in some way by capitalism so... deleting the BlueSky app from my phone. I need to kick this habit.

Okay *now* I dip. Let's see if I can get my brain back to its previously questionable settings but with the social media rot removed.

Okay one last post before I.go because I'm fed up. Hey guys? I knew less about Harry Potter casting news and all the latest products to bare the franchise name way back when I was actually a fan. What are we doing?

I wrote a journal entry today that made me realise how deeply unhealthy my relationship to social media is so taking a month off to break some habits. See you when I get back.

*watching old episodes of Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction* Jonathan Frakes: "fact and fiction, are they really that different?" Me living in 2025 hellscape of alternate facts: "YES THEY ARE GODDAMMIT JONATHAN FRAKES!!!"

Drop something SMILEY 😁😈🤪🖤

Poster for that terrible film Smiley that had both Shane Dawson and some other YouTuber with accusations in it.

The "There's too many charcaters" superhero fil criticism to me feels often like regurgitating the criticism of Spider-man 3 without fully getting why it was a problem in that film. The issue wasn't that it had 3 villains. It was each villain had full arcs that barely touched each other.

Okay so... I know that detectives in murder mystery stories will have personality quirks to make them abrasive and that it's a tightrope walk to make them ot unlikeable. ...gonna say "I'm gonna solve a murder for my university extra credit" is a bad start Good Girl's Guide to Murder...

I picked up my cat and I could feel her push herself up to make it easier to be held. ...and then she IMMEDIATELY wants down. Cats.

THE DA VINKI TWINS ARE PROFESSIONAL WRESTLERS??!??!?!?@

Watching random Community episodes and suddenly noticed that Magnitude is said to be 16 when he's introduced in the election episode. Which means he was 14/15 at a party with Annie and Troy in that stupid origin story episode in Season 4. Whoops!

The cat in the basement is one of the best jokes in all of Community.

000

Got out my Community DVDs cause I'm ona Community kick and its not on streaming. After realising my S1 DVDs are Region 1, I go to S2 with intention to pick an episode I really liked. Stare at the titles. I have no clue what any episode is XD

000

I rewatched S17 of Always Sunny the other day and goddamn is that shows satire still sharp. Stands out include the bowling episode and Dennis taking a mental health day. The latter being horrifically relatable to I think most people.

I need to stop using social media as a journal and start an actual journal. Cause I don't need to be announcing things on here nearly ad much as I do.

If you ever want to prove to yourself that cosplayers are shapeshifters, follow them on Insta and then look through their stories. The number of times I've flicked through insta stories and gone "who is this? I don't recognise them? Why do I follow-WAIT THATS THAT ONE COSPLAYER???"

Shortly after this I saw the news that Sucrose's VA has been recast. What's the opposite of the "everytime I'm out, they pull me back in" line because... Everytime I feel the pull they recast another actor.

A combination of missing playing it and seeing that Nod-Krai is going to touch on stuff I had been excited to see for *years* is making me the most tempted I've been since quitting to redownload Genshin and get back into it. I most likely won't but the temptation is the strongest it's been.

Maybe I'm noticing it more with K-Pop Demon Hunters cause it's satire is related to something I know nothing about, but I have noticed a trend on social media (particularly tiktoks/reels) where people just allude to those themes or ideas with a framing of "can't believe people missed the point.

Oh easy. When we saw Cabin in the Woods and it got to the elevator scene, @yukikisama.bsky.social said loudly "haha you're all fucked" and then proceeded to laugh her ass off in the following scene. This only cemented my love for her even more.

Nate @rogosprout.bsky.social · 01/08/2025

Oh I see why the basic pitch is "Peacemaker is all canon to the DCU except for the Justice League cameo" You literally can edit that out and miss nothing. I'd be shocked if they don't just re-edit the episode at some point.

I hate having to crank the brightness all the way to the max when I'm watching night scenes on TV because no one knows how to light scenes at night anymore. This big final action scene in Peacemaker was prolly really coop if I could bloody see it.

000

The problem with having severe anxiety problems is that approximately 1 in every 1000 disasters your brain comes up with ends up being right. Which means you were prepared a bit but also that you can't ever fully dismiss your anxieties just in case XD

"A live action remake." Sure. Why not? Let's make a boring version for the losers who think watching animation is for babies. Just do it for every animated thing ever. Why respect an art form?

220

Did not expect Peacemaker to make me cry but here we are. (Admittedly any scene about a person facing the risk of losing a beloved animal companion is a cheat code.)

000

It's EXTREMELY funny to me when fans of the Other Superman are comparing Hoult and Eisenberg they always - ALWAYS - use the Lex from the end of Justice League instead of BVS. You know, the one we saw for a couple mins tops and was an obvious course correction?

100

A theme I'm noticing in the 'criticism' of both Superman And Fantastic Four I'm seeing floating around is it largely focuses on taking clips of the male leads in moments where the hero is in pain out of context and going "Wow look weak they are!" Which... says so much.

100

Omg I forgotten about the part in Witch Watch where they get trapped in a shitty death game XD

000

YouTube talking about wanting to protect kids rings damn hollow given how many scandals there have been around family channels at this point... ...Also around YouTubers with young audiences being creepers...

100

Started to notice people using 'NPC' to mean 'Basic' when insulting people's taste. I hated the Basic thing to begin with but saying someone isn't a real person because of their personal taste is just... People have 100% forgotten when some terms mean.

I wonder if other UK residents have noticed a huge spike in the number of VPN ads they're getting on YouTube? L O Friggin' L

Wow. Just. What could go wrong? Can we all prove ourselves adults if we leave a playlist of someone talking about old shows from the 80s and 90s running daily? If so I'm saved XD

020

I'm at the age where I either have no idea what a popular trend is or just enough that my explanation would annoy a young person. "Ah yes, Labubu, that's basically like Beanie Babies right?"

Nate @rogosprout.bsky.social · 28/07/2025

Mario and Peach being announced as just friends was always gonna happen eventually once they made Bowser CEO of Nintendo. .....I don't love this gag. I feel like I'm better than this. Eh. Post.

Nate @rogosprout.bsky.social · 28/07/2025

I'm enjoying Tougan Enki but I can't help but see it as Blue Exorcist with Deadman Wonderland's power system and Levi from Attack on Titan as the teacher. And I like 2 of those 3 things so I'm still digging it.

Watching world leaders say "Oh yes, its terrible someone should do something." as the people of Gaza are starved out of existence is sickening. They care enough to tut at the genocide not to actually do anything.

Began working on pages proper today! Enjoy some deer spectres getting ready for a throw down!

A group of shadowy demonic creatures that resemble deers with human bodies. One is larger with armour.

Gotta love that a whole bunch of 'politically active' accounts are only *now* talking about the Online Safety Act and the problems with age verification... ...not like this has been in the works for two damn years or anything...

Here's the thing about the UK and censorship. It has a pretty consistent pattern of engaging in ridiculous censorship in response to moral panics... and then quietly walking it back. Case and point. The Video Nasties. You can get most of them in stores perfectly legally now.
