Ian @roget.bsky.social · 13/10/2026I've taken to watching everything with the subtitles turned on. The movies shot in almost complete darkness get turned off. 1130
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 06/10/2026As someone who has, at times in my life, been quite rich but at other times dirt poor I can unequivocally state that having money is much much better than not having it. 060

Ian @roget.bsky.social · 28/08/2026All multi player online games are hunting grounds for paedophiles. 001
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 10/08/2026That used to work when bar staff were trained and attentive. I feel I've become invisible in recent years. 000
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 10/08/2026Unfortunately some of them will still stand over you and tell you what to do. 000
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 08/08/2026And a rapist, a cheat, a paedophile, a fraudster, a thief, a vandal, a simpleton and a danger to world peace. 000
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 07/08/2026I was asked this once in a job interview. I thought I'd fucked it up already so I said I'd like to be remembered as someone who always stood his round in the pub. I got the job. 0400
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 26/06/2026@officialmelbrooks.bsky.social happy birthday Mr Brooks. I'd just like to thank you for the joy you've brought into my life. 000
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 10/05/2026It might surprise you to know that most children are disrespectful and deeply unpleasant. Some grow out of it. Some don't and go on to be politicians. 000
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 08/04/2026Fair enough. I usually go with friends and wouldn't talk to random strangers anyway. 000
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 07/04/2026I'm very much against them too but just because you're in the same pub doesn't mean you have to 'mix' with them. Or do you often strike up conversations with random strangers in pubs. 100
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 03/04/2026But surely any on street parking closes down a lane, marked or not. As for mini roundabouts, if used properly, they help with the free flow of traffic. 000
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 03/04/2026But the condition of the roads anywhere has nothing to do with bad or inconsiderate parking. 000
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 03/04/2026So what's your point in singling out the uk? I'm in France, parking is shit here too. 000
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 03/04/2026You do realise most British town/village/city streets have been there for centuries longer than cars have been around. 010
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 01/04/2026I guess it depends on your income. I have to stretch a very small pension every month just to make ends meet. Every penny counts. 120
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 01/04/2026The markets are pretty good indeed but actually fairly expensive compared to LeClerc, Carrefour, etc. Fresh produce in Lidl is much cheaper and as good if not better quality. And Parkside tools are excellent. 110
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 01/04/2026You obviously didn't need a kayak with your groceries then. Fair enough. 170
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 01/04/2026When I moved out of the family home I neatly packed up all my childhood toys and possessions and put them up in the otherwise empty loft. My folks sold the house about 5 years later and left them there. They didn't know or probably care. I wonder where my 1960s Hornby train set ended up. 000
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 01/04/2026The middle of Lidl elevates it to first place if you want to buy a kayak, a chainsaw and a foot spa. It's a sort of free creche for husbands. 2160

Ian @roget.bsky.social · 29/03/2026Jesus H Christ. Don't tell me you've only just noticed. This is the raison d'etre of virtually every government that has ever existed anywhere in the world. The politicians who make you believe they're doing it for YOUR benefit are just better liars. 000
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 28/03/2026Calm Down. The only direct command that is guaranteed never to make anyone actually calm down. 020
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 28/03/2026I'm pretty sure he had a bottom. You could plainly see it in The Fisher King. 120
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 18/03/2026My mate was addicted to brake fluid. He always said he would stop whenever he wanted. 151
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 18/03/2026I'm guessing the OP has an alcohol problem and mistakes normal social interaction between adults as alcoholism by measuring it against their own experiences. I'm in the upper end of his age scale and although social drinking is commonplace none of my peer group is an alcoholic or ever gets 'pissed'. 010
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 17/03/2026If I only had a choice of watching football or cricket, how easy is it to smash a television? 000
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 16/03/2026I've got nothing against the tea and cakes thing, it's the running and throwing bit I can't be bothered with. 000
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 16/03/2026If he got a decent bit of jail time you wouldn't have to mention him at all. At least until the surveillance cameras mysteriously break down one night. 000
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 16/03/2026It's because they only actually have 15mins of material to fill 60mins of screen time. 010
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 16/03/2026Never got cricket. 2 teams play for 3 days to hit a solid ball with a flat stick to folk miles away at the edge of a field and the hitter runs till the ball comes back. They take regular tea breaks and eat cakes and sandwiches. Rain can stop play and very often nobody wins so they have more cake. 100
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 16/03/2026The only proof in existence that I wasn't always 20stone of unfit blubber. It doesn't pick me up when I'm low. It's kinda depressing. 000
Ian @roget.bsky.social · 15/03/2026I've recently retired and I now wish I'd paid more attention to the matter of pensions. 000
