Nick Drake passed 50 years ago today; and initially, I was going to post Road, or something darker from Pink Moon. But instead, here's something more uplifting, to celebrate, rather than mourn. youtu.be/EZ5X4qesLRs?...

Here’s sociology Alt text version

A black and white drawing titled “types of sociology paper” with twelve mock first pages of papers. The papers’ text is indicated by lines and blank image squares, some with abstracts, some in double columns, etc. The mock titles are written out:
“I made up a new form of capital”
“Look it’s all very complicated and everything matters”
“We made up a new sort of Labor”
“We’re going to bring this Back in”
“I take a SOCIOLOGICAL approach, unlike SOME people”
“This Thing Became Widely for Stupid and/or Evil Reasons”
“Five years of brutal, intensive ethnographic work suggests it sucks to have no money”
“Can you believe there’s still more to be squeezed out of the GSS?”
“Scandinavian Registry Data show mobility dependent on relative oatmeal content of grandparents’ diet”
“We got hold of this sweet data from Facebook; lol no you can’t have it”
“This seems very weird and bad but it’s perfectly rational when you’re poor”
“A critique of what I imagine the Economists believe”

In a London that has barely seen the sun this month, this tree between IOE and SOAS made me very happy today. Also, hello! After a period of inactivity on The Platform That Must Not Be Named, I'm here to restart my digital self and find the sociologists of education... #AcademicSky #PhDSky
