I am not saying I am looking for a new job or anything like that (ahem). I just decided on a Friday to invest about 5 hours remaking it. That has nothing to do with promoting myself to other universities. Not at all. #academicsky #digitalsociology #cybercriminology #sociology roderickgraham.com

A dream of mine is to start some type of center for platforming open source technologies. There's so many good products out there - including this one - that no one knows about. I use Graphene OS on an older Google pixel and it works beautifully.

Muncy to Betts to Rojas to Freeman. That's about a hundred and thirty years of baseball right there. Didn't realize how old the Dodgers lineup is.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto is the best big game pitcher of his generation as the great Madison Bumgarner was in his. Truly outstanding, consistently so.

Okay so For All Mankind is now in my all time top 10 of television shows. An number 2 in science fiction behind the early 2000s Battlestar Galactica.

I'm a proud member of AAUP, and generally support the statements they make. Here...I don't know. Having some content come from an agreed upon corpus for gen ed courses makes sense. We want college grads to share common texts and understandings. The question is who chooses the common texts?

I'm binge watching for All Mankind and by Season 4 it seems a lesson is "once you go to space you can never leave the place." Folks are either stranded because of a malfunction, exiled, bound by duty, forced to stay to save another, or inexplicably...want to go back. Like 10 times. For 50 years.

Happens every time. "Man this is a great actor. He must be from Baton Rouge or something with that accent and mannerisms." I go to Wikipedia. "What...he's from Staffordshire UK? Set to play King Arthur next year?" I mean I get that they are actors but wow so impressive.

Its not quite what everyone is saying about this, but I am always impressed at how this man can never just communicate on his own merits. And oh yeah, this seems corrupt, illegal...and unfortunately likely to be effective knowing the type of person who voted for him in the past.

Yes I know jumping the gun. But it is entirely possible that the White Sox could beat the Guardians, and then a Rays team that gets by a Judgeless Yankees team. Then I want them to loose to the Dodgers in 6. That would make my Fall semester.

1. Let's not say goodbye to Eric Schmitt just yet. His story is about more than a power-mad senator falling on his face. It's part of a larger story about the Republicans defending the leader of an insurrection against the United States.

Hard to say Derek Jeter is underrated but he has 200 postseason hits - the most ever, and the next person has about 130? And he did this before the current playoff format.

Wasn't he supposed to be a bad president? Finally, if that guy - with all his immorality and incompetence - would have been good at his job of being president, then whatever we thought about ability, merit, and doing things the right way would be thrown into question.

Saw a headline saying AI will *increase* the value of the humanities. That makes sense. We may not need humans to learn established processes anymore (formulas, procedures, etc). Instead we can focus on what it means to be human. In this century we will need more poets than computer scientists.

If I may recruit some well-worn sociological concepts to explain something... Conservatives treat bigotry like the violation of a folkway - not unlike wearing a black belt with brown shoes. Liberals treat it like the violation of a more - akin to theft or adultery.
