Fact #37 Mega Man 11 is the only Classic Mega Man game, and the only Mega Man game that isn't a collection, to be released in the United States first, as it was released two days earlier in the US than in Japan. Only the Mega Man X Legacy Collection and Mega Man Zero Collection have also done this.

Fact #36 There exists graphics for an unused copy protection system in Mega Man for DOS. You would be shown a picture of an enemy from the game, and you would need to consult the game's manual, find the enemy's picture, and type in the name, similar to how some other DOS games' anti-piracy worked.

Fact #35 The manual for Mega Man on the Game Gear says that Mega Man has been "saving the universe on console screens around the world for over ten years". This is untrue, as the game released in 1995 and the original Mega Man released in 1987.

Fact #34 During a Christmas livestream in 2021 featuring the president of Inti Creates, Takuya Aizu, it was revealed that a third Mega Man ZX game was in development around the time of Mega Man 9's development, codenamed "Mega Man ZXC". It was cancelled likely due to the poor sales of ZX Advent.

Fact #33 The Misadventures of Tron Bonne's Japanese title, Tron ni Kobun, is likely based on the proverb "neko ni koban" (giving a gold coin to a cat), which means "casting pearls before swine". The game makes no reference to this, so it was likely chosen because "koban" and "kobun" sound similar.

Fact #32 A US trailer for Mega Man Battle Network 6 says that the games are meant to tie into "MegaMan NT Warrior Beast". However, this is not true, as Rockman.EXE Beast never received an English dub. It is unknown whether there were plans to dub Beast or whether this is just an error.

Fact #31 Although the Mega Man Ruby-Spears cartoon is considered to be the first Mega Man cartoon, there was one that came before it. Mega Man: Upon a Star is a Japanese OVA series released in 1993, while the Ruby-Spears series first aired in 1994, making Upon a Star the first.

Fact #30 The Rockman 6 manga brings a unique change to one of the Robot Masters; Centaur Man is revealed to actually be a woman disguised as a man. She is also revealed to be the girlfriend of Knight Man in this continuity, attacking Mega Man in rage due to him defeating Knight Man beforehand.

Fact #29 Chokkan! Rockman was released for the Keitai Capcom phone service in January 2008. It's a collection of 12 minigames themed around different Mega Man characters, such as moving a cursor around Dr. Wily to make him dizzy, a rhythm game against Elec Man, or a skiing game with Fire Man.

Fact #28 AquaMan.EXE's name was changed to SpoutMan.EXE in the English localization of Mega Man Battle Network 6, as well as in MegaMan NT Warrior. The reason for this was likely to avoid being sued by DC Comics, due to both of them having a character named Aquaman.

Fact #27 The first trailer for Mega Man X7 shows an early version of the game's intro stage, with differences like Axl being absent and the camera angle being different. Also, the back of the game's box shows X in the intro stage, which cannot be done without cheats as it is meant for Axl and Zero.

Fact #26 Worlds Collide may have saved the Sonic and Mega Man Archie comics, as it allowed Ken Penders' characters to be removed easily after his attempts to sue Archie over the use of the his characters, and the potential cancellation of the Mega Man comics due to not meeting sales expectations.

Fact #25 For some reason, in the Mega Man DOS games, Mega Man does not change color when he equips a Special Weapon. Also, in the first game, the Mega Buster is referred to as the "Plasma Cannon", a name which would be reused in the Mega Man Ruby-Spears cartoon.

Fact #23 The Japanese version of Resident Evil: Director's Cut contains a demo of Mega Man Legends, using its early title, Rockman NEO. It has several control changes from the final game, like turning the camera with L1 or R1 during a dodge roll, no X-button escape roll, and decreased jump height.

Fact #22 As of September 30th, 2022, Mega Man 11 has been the highest-selling game in the entire Mega Man franchise, with 1.9 million copies sold as of May 2024. This is higher than even Mega Man 2, which sold 1.5 million copies worldwide.

Fact #21 In early concept sketches for Mega Man & Bass, Burner Man was referred to as "Blast Man". This name would later come into use exactly 20 years later, when an ACTUAL Blast Man would be introduced in Mega Man 11.

Fact #19 The news anchor from the opening cutscene of Mega Man 9 bears a striking resemblance to Chun-Li from the Street Fighter series. This may be a reference to the 1994 live-action Street Fighter film, in which Chun-Li is depicted as a news anchor.

Fact #18 The Rockman X DiVE Illustration Collection artbook reveals cut content that was planned to be in DiVE before the game ended service. Amongst them was planned collab content between DiVE and Rockman Xover, a previous Mega Man mobile title, as Nero L and Oro S were in the planning stages.

Fact #17 For whatever reason, in Mega Man 8, Party Balls can actually damage Mega Man for one hit point if he makes physical contact with them. It is unknown why they do this, since for the most part, they dispense items for Mega Man to collect.

Fact #16 Concept art for Mega Man X: Command Mission reveals that at one point, both Mega Man himself and Cut Man were planned to appear. This is further supported by the fact that having a save file for the PS2 version of Command Mission unlocks Cut Man as a mini-boss in Mega Man X8.

Fact #15 Between 2009-10, development began on a potential Mega Man Star Force 4, which would have featured a new character named Kazuma, a descendant of Lan Hikari from the Mega Man Battle Network games. The game was cancelled due to Star Force 3's poor sales, and was discovered on June 14, 2019.

Fact #14 Mega Man Battle Network 4 is notorious for its English localization having many glaring translation errors. Among them are lines such as "let's get on with the viruses busting" instead of "virus busting" and the infamous "Leg's go, Lan!" line.

Fact #13 According to character designer Yuji Ishihara, there were plans for a PET-shaped GameCube controller to be released alongside Mega Man Network Transmission, the only Battle Network title on the GameCube. Unfortunately, these plans fell through during development of the game.

Fact #11 There exist fan-made NES-style demakes of both Mega Man 7 and Mega Man 8. These include several differences from the original games, such as the shop not being in 7, screws being more common in 8, and the lack of an intro stage or Robot Museum in 7.

Fact #10 Stage 2 of the Wily Star from Mega Man V has the most amount of bosses of any Mega Man stage to date, with a whopping 12, consisting of the boss rush against all 8 Stardroids, plus fights against Enker, Quint, Punk and Ballade, the penultimate bosses of the other Mega Man Game Boy titles.

Fact #9 Although the first 3 volumes of the Mega Man Archie comics are adaptations of Mega Man 1 and 2, volume 4, while including elements from Mega Man 3, is primarily an adaptation of Super Adventure Rockman, as it is where Ra Moon is introduced. MM3 would not be fully adapted until Volume 10.

Fact #8 Elec Man's theme from the original Mega Man game has been noted as being very similar to the song "Faithfully" by Journey. The game's composer, Manami Matsumae, has gone on record stating this is merely a coincidence.

Fact #7 Out of the Mega Man games to be released in multiple versions, the original Mega Man Star Force is the only one to have three different versions: Pegasus, Leo, and Dragon. Not even the other two Star Force games do this.

Fact #6 Mega Man Battle Network 6's Japanese release featured crossover content with Konami's Boktai series, such as Battle Chips based on Django and Otenko and an optional boss battle against the Count of Groundsoaking Blood. These were cut from the international release of the game.

Fact #5 In the Needle Man revisit during the latter half of Mega Man 3, there is a screen where you must use Rush Jet to progress. This is seen as one of the most frustrating parts of any Mega Man game as, if you die after this, the weapon energy pickups do not reappear, resulting in a softlock.

Fact #4 The Moles from Mega Man 2 actually did not originate from that game. They first appeared in the NES version of the game Legendary Wings, released in 1988, which was worked on by several staff members who also worked on the first 2 Mega Man games.

Fact #3 Mega Man is, to this day, the only mainline game in the Mega Man classic series where Mega Man can swim, albeit only being used in two stages, Aqua Man's and the opening stage. The only other game in the classic series to have this ability is Mega Man 3: The Robots Are Revolting for DOS.

Fact #2 In Mega Man: The Power Battle, for some reason, certain Robot Masters do not use their own themes. Ice Man, for example, uses a remix of Freeze Man's theme from Mega Man 7 - ironic, since Freeze Man is also in this game. www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1_k...

Fact #1 The name of the chip you get after defeating Metrods in Mega Man Battle Network 3 is known as HoleMetr in English. One may wrongly assume the attack has to do with holes of some kind, but this name is actually a mistranslation of its Japanese name, Whole Meteor, as it attacks all enemies.
