I think Darkwood has an ending of all time which I'm not going to spoil but I will say actively abuses that need for a "happy" ending until you look under the surface. We do get plenty of uplifting endings but the whole point of horror is to explore discomfort.

In particular you also see this kind of thing with videogames as well. I don't want sanitized "all is well" happy endings or "cozy" endings, I want something like SOMA or Bone Temple where it's left intentionally vague and kinda made for you to sit with it and think of the implications.

It's recompiling old games to run on other systems. Originally it was done by hand when porting to systems and a lot of the time it was stuff that was locked to specific consoles and / or had something unique to that system. Now the slop peddlers have started doing it to everything for clout.

I know the hush I have has manual controls for the bottom button but it's only 4 or 5 presets and that's it. 80% of the selling point of the hush was the phone controlled and distance functions which now seem to be bricked. Even when it was new it only really worked some of the time.
