Closer shot with helpful red circle. Not dangerous (the cable still pulls the calipers against the rim to stop the wheel) but obnoxious, because the calipers stay closed and the brake pads may keep rubbing after I’ve released the levers
Same image, zoomed in to show a small break in a silver spring attached to a bicycle brake caliper. The word “chorus” is visible across the bottom of the image

I’ve got an almost clean break through the tension spring on my rear brake caliper. Discovered just as I was about to head out on a lunch ride. Good reminder to occasionally look the whole bike over!

Favorite wall from Spanish museums so far. José María López Mezquita’s Chain Gang was especially apt, good background material for the socio-economic situation pre-civil war (also reading an engrossing and alarmingly relevant civil war book by Zaragoza professor Julián Casanova)

I can only assume the deep thinkers at the NYTimes are thinking of the titular pouty incel narcissistic manchild in troilus and criseyde, an apparent role model for all of today’s pouty incel narcissistic manchildren (Would also accept any man but hector from the Iliad)
