Heavy metal band The Silent Light is in Houston this weekend for two shows where they perform live scores for THE PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC (tonight) and A PAGE OF MADNESS (tomorrow). These guys are loud, and their music will rattle your skeletons in the best way possible. www.theriveroakstheatre.com

RIP to Jerry Golod, an Executive Producer on TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE. If you're looking for something spooky to watch this month, this horror anthology gem is one of the best to do it.

I hope we one day see Anderson return to making films just slightly left of the real world instead of the land of make believe he currently lives in.

It’s weird to watch BOTTLE ROCKET again after years of modern “I exist firmly in the land of artifice” Wes Anderson films. I miss this grounded, human and incredibly funny version of the Anderson film. It’s basically an episode of KING OF THE HILL.

You see how this looks, right?

Comics aren’t governed by the restraints of a lot of visual mediums. So, they’re a vehicle that can take familiar tropes and conventions in

They have an incredible story. My knowledge was also pretty limited so the whole movie was a wild series of surprises.

BUTTHOLE SURFERS: THE WHOLE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUTT is one of the most entertaining films I’ve seen this year. It’s got it all: insight, emotion, laugh out loud comedy, puppets, penises, puppet penises.

It’s a real shame Paramount never arranged a crossover between JACKASS and Tom Cruise in promotion of a MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE sequel. I feel this a missed cultural moment that will haunt humanity’s legacy like the ghost of a miscarried baby.

I finally finished the new season of KING OF THE HILL. Every episode was incredible. It's truly one of the best TV revivals around. Making Bobby Hill's high school part-time job at Whataburger feels like pandering to Texans, but any Texan will tell you that we absolutely love being pandered to.

Pick up a copy of WHERE WOLF or CURSE OF THE WHERE WOLF at your friendly neighborhood bookstore, or read the series online at www.wherewolfcomic.com. PS - I'm stoked for WERWULF, a movie that seems to really capture how much the past probably smelled.

Two more screenings - Sunday and Tuesday!

It’s so much fun. Roy Scheider really tears it up in both halves of his Houston-shot thriller duopoly.

We had to add two additional screenings of NIGHT GAME, a movie about a serial killer who only strikes when the Astros play a night game. Houston consistently makes me proud.
