Hello! I am a controls engineer and love learning about technology, playing games, reading books, hanging out with friends, and playing with my niblings. I recently realized I am gender fluid, my pronouns are she/he/they

Calling out double standards and bigotry isn't what's destroying the world.

Giving power to people who are largely against our interests seems like a bad idea

I looked it up and read a bunch of stuff about how and why it's a load of crap

Kinda weird to say there won't be a trace of the harm left in the same comment where you acknowledge that we can see what the climate was like millions of years ago

Sounds like you're embarrassed by your lack of reading comprehension and lashing out over it

You are suggesting that it replace the grid. So yes, it would. No, they do not. They set it to the best angle THAT YOUR ROOF MAKES AVAILABLE. THEY ARE RESTRICTED BY YOUR ROOF.

What is the fifth word in that sentence?

You should read entire sentences before writing your responses.

You need 24/7/365 maintenance on anything that has to be up 24/7/365. You know, like a power grid. They do set the most common angle, which is optimizing the angle of the panels. That cannot be done with home installations btw, as the angle and direction are often restricted.

roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 10/06/2026
No, quite different things. You seem to be repeating points I've already addressed.
110
roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 10/06/2026
Incorrect! Many things are economical but not done simply because they are not as profitable. Planned obsolescence is a great example of this, as companies make more money by wasting resources using planned obsolescence.

We can, in fact, begin replacing the oil with 0 batteries at all. Because replacing fossil fuels in the grid does not happen overnight. Also, small note, oil is not used for much energy production on the grid. That's pretty much all gas and coal.

roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 10/06/2026
Home solar is not the most efficient. A home solar installation cannot optimize the angle of the panels. They can't have 24/7 maintenance. You can't expect a grid of home solar installations to all use the same parts. Home solar cannot under any circumstances be relied on for a grid.
100
roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 10/06/2026
So? We don't need them to be ready to run the entire grid until we've totally replaced fossil fuels in the grid, which is decades off.

roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 10/06/2026
Solar on homes doesn't maximize stability or effectiveness either. It is not even remotely close to the most effective solar system. It is not a substitute for grid scale production. Just putting aside the fact that the same size installation will produce less on a rooftop, think of the maintenance

roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 10/06/2026
Economic arguments on cost will always show centralized power plants as being the most optimal solution.
100
roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 10/06/2026
Solar on individual homes is literally the opposite of spacing them close together to maximize production for transmission lmfao

I don't much care what a fringe group wants, especially since the discussion is about what the best ways forward with renewable energy are
100
roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 10/06/2026
Who cares if batteries are ready yet? We can install solar while we're waiting for the batteries to be ready.
110
roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 10/06/2026
We're talking about millions of acres of land dawg. There's no small applications at that size, just big and bigger.
200
roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 10/06/2026
I'm not saying there's no purpose to rooftop solar lol. It's just an entirely different purpose to grid scale renewables, and that even your own lifestyle would not be possible without grid scale power generation. Think of all the things that require power off your homestead

roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 10/06/2026
I'm not sure if there's any research on it. There's a few obvious advantages to plants though. They can keep parts and qualified staff on hand for 24/7 maintenance. The solar panels can all point in the most optimal angle rather than be restricted by the roof they're installed on. Stuff like that.
100
roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 10/06/2026
Rooftop solar is very cool but the only way to move to renewable energy will be centralized power production plants. Power generation just works better in larger scales.

Farm doesn't have to be given up to build renewables. Agrivoltaics, while not practicable in all cases, is the integration of agriculture and renewable energy generation and can make farms more stable/profitable.

Investing in new infrastructure carries risk. Why take that risk when they can just keep operating as is and charge us more?

I've even given you concrete examples of it, but predicably you were not capable of understanding

No, your inability to read properly is illiteracy.

What a peculiar form of illiteracy.

roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 09/06/2026
Right here. Very clearly does not ever say anything about the shroud emitting neutrons. Doesn't say anything about measuring neutrons either. You made it up. Admit it.
010
roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 09/06/2026
Yeah you mentioned that already. Once again, you're making things up. He never proposed this as what he believes or as his own theory.
130
roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 09/06/2026
You did. He literally never mentioned anything remotely close to "the shroud emitting neutrons". My best guess is that you're reading 10% of the words and guessing the rest.
100
roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 09/06/2026
Genuinely no clue how you're this bad at reading
000
roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 09/06/2026
No, I saw you say that before. It's yet another example of you making things up and pretending someone else said it.
110
roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 09/06/2026
If you don't want people to point out your mistakes, then don't make them.
210
roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 09/06/2026
Do you think that scientists publish a paper and then never do anything with that data again? Neutron flux*, which is a measure of neutron radiation. Neutrinos are quite different. Do you know what a neutron is? Or what radiation is?
110
roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 09/06/2026
Same here. I find it really funny that Corwin is pretending to be a scientist now though.
010
roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 09/06/2026
See, this is what makes it very obvious that you are not and never have been a member of the scientific community: "What would be the point?" Reproducing studies, trying new techniques, testing new technologies, are what science is all about. You can't read papers and not know that.
010
roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 09/06/2026
"our field" lmfao You remind me of this paper I read on how a growing percentage of young people can't understand metaphor in texts.
010
roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 09/06/2026
You clearly cannot, as you continually demonstrate
000
roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 09/06/2026
He did not. He said dating the shroud was his life's work, and that he was writing a book about that. Again, you make things up and pretend others said them.
100
roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 09/06/2026
Do you see anywhere in that quote where he said that the dating was wrong?
210
roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 09/06/2026
The part where you claim he disputed it. He never did. You made that up, presumably because you're not literate enough to understand what he did say. Also still trying to ignore the fact that he was one of the people who dated it, aren't you?
110
roboticvegan.bsky.social @roboticvegan.bsky.social · 09/06/2026
Mostly what you've done is made things up and pretended he said them. You seem fairly incapable of responding to anything anyone actually says, as noted by the fact that you failed to respond to any part of my comment at all.
