hey I've got one of those too

a little orange/black/white cat curled up with her forehead pressed up against a person's leg wearing blue jeans. she's got her face buried in her little paws

I got a reply just now to an email asking for an update. not the most excited by the response but at least it's something 🤷‍♂️

Hi Keegan:

Thank you for the followup on your Southern Reach vinyl audiobook order, and for your continued patience. We realize that this project has taken much longer than initially expected.

We have a brief update to share. Since our original release schedule was announced, Rare Bird has endured a major transition in distribution from Publishers Group West to Simon & Schuster. As part of this shift, we are rescheduling fulfillment of all Southern Reach vinyl audiobook preorders, with shipping now expected in June 2026.

While we understand that delays are frustrating, this transition has allowed us to ensure that this project receives the care, coordination, and production standards it truly deserves. Your direct preorder will still ship with signed certificates of authenticity, along with a beautifully curated accompaniment of more than 300 hours of exclusive sound design, created to expand the narration.

This has always been a special project, one that has demanded patience, precision, and dedication. We sincerely appreciate your understanding as timelines have evolved, and we’re confident the final result will reflect the level of craft and ambition that inspired it from the beginning.

A few preorder customers have requested cancelations and refunds, which we have obliged, but most have opted to remain with us in queue, and for that we are grateful. We are working now to provide additional accommodations for those who ordered early and stayed the course for so long.

In the meantime, we’ll continue to keep you updated as we move closer to shipment. Thank you for supporting this release and for standing with us as we deliver the very best version possible.

Warm regards,

Tyson Cornell

post a picture you took w/ no description to bring some zen to the timeline

a tangle of branches surround the silhouette of a bird, I don't know what kind of bird I'm sorry. the sky behind the unknown bird is a blue grey. some of the branches hint at a green color but most are black against the sky

The Follower
A Sons of Orkus Story
By Keegan Gordon

He can always tell where the Sons have been by the flakes of green metal they leave scattered over a battlefield. After the dead have been removed, and those enterprising individuals who scour for discarded and broken things have taken their fill, the Follower comes. He is cloaked, and hooded, and if there were eyes to see him work they would see him spend hours picking over the blood soaked earth for the chips and flakes of armor and weapons, collecting only the ones that flash green in the sparse moonlight. He is systematic. He knows he cannot cover the entire field before the Company moves on. Night after night he returns, always hours or a day behind the company, always collecting those shards of green light.
In the right conditions our phantom observer might see what the Follower has wrought with his scavenged light. A feeble set of dull green armor clings to him under his cloak, ill-made and ill-maintained. But in the moonlight the observer would also see, hair pricking on their neck, that the Follower has no face. When the hood shifts in the breeze all that can be seen is the blinding reflection of the moonlight off the perfectly smooth, mirrored green surface of the Mask of the Follower.
And he knows, if he gathers enough of that light, that they will welcome him back.

everyone's sharing their eclipse pictures and I don't have any so these are from last year

the total solar eclipse from October 2023. the image is artificially dark because the brightness and contrast have been fucked with. the sun itself is a dull orange orb with some cool haloing going on because of clouds. there is a perfectly circular blue lens flares showing the totality

the eclipse from October 2023. the frame is showing a blue sky but it's artificially dark because the brightness and contrast have been fucked with. the sun is a dull white orb with a lot of haloing because of the clouds. there's a bright blue lens flare showing the partial eclipse

the eclipse from October 2023. the frame is almost completely black except for the sun which is a dull orange orb and a blue lens flare showing the partial eclipse

this is from the eclipse last year but the best I was able to get with a cell phone camera was these cool lens flares

the eclipse from October 2023. the scene is artificially dark because the contrast and brightness have been fucked with. the sun itself is a dull orange orb and there's a perfectly circular blue lense flare showing the totality

started inventing a guy. their name is Noise, they're a kind of a techno-organic person powered by magic. probably need to do a 3d model next to know what they look like from other angles because I have trouble with anything other than one point perspective

quote w/ a picture of water you took

the ocean on a grey day in Gold Beach Oregon. it's evening and the light is soft so the rock formations are almost black against the water. there are clouds over the water and the ocean and sky almost seem to bleed into each other.

reskeet with a tweet you still think about there's a few but if I have to pick just one it's gotta be the Torment Nexus

a screenshot of a tweet from @AlexBlechman. it reads:

Sci-Fi Author: In my book invented the Torment Nexus as a cautionary tale

Tech Company: At long last, we have
created the Torment Nexus from classic sci-fi novel Don't Create The Torment Nexus
