Four examples of notecards that I created for my partnership with Camel City Playhouse related to their current mainstage production. I enjoyed reading the script and finding quotes to add to the images from this kooky little comedy! 'Beyond Therapy' plays through Jan 26 at CCP in Winston-Salem.

Just sold the original canvas of this one. Part of a series of fantasy paintings against landmarks of Winston-Salem, NC, ‘Camel City Venus’ echoes the famous Botticelli painting with a modern Venus dressed for the beach and stepping out of the historic Shell gas station. #art #acrylicart #canvasart

Thanks! It's from my own setting where there are a lot of anthropomorphic animal species. More ratlings, spiderfolk, and tabaxi than elves, dwarves and gnomes but not as cutesy as most other animal based settings! This one was a pregen character I created for DragonCon last year!

Theatre events between Xmas and New Year knocked me for a loop and catching up has been a process! Think it’s the 3rd time here that I’ve pledged to get back to it! Here’s a page of sketches I did the other day. Planning for a piece to accompany the next MainStage show at Camel City Playhouse.

A series of pencil sketches showing a broken vase with a flower lying beside it, a Snoopy Doll, a tabletop set for dinner for two but only a single glass of wine, a bottle of win that is still corked, and a hand grasping a tearing from a newspaper with a personal ad.

I have not disappeared. It just turns out that when you run up to Christmas with twelve art commissions due on New Year’s Eve, two separate shows to perform in (one of which you haven’t finished writing) and haven’t finished Christmas shopping… there isn’t time left for much else! Happy New Year!

Rob of Wonder @robofwonder.bsky.social · 23/12/2024

So I sort of disappeared for the last week or so (think the last ARTvent date I did was the 17th! Mostly because I had to get the annotations for the Macbeth script finished and the script delivered for printing. Over 1500 annotations later and I’m back, or at least ready to catch up! Gimme time! 🙂

Not being creative nearly killed me. I shelved my creative side for nearly 20 years to do the “sensible” thing and earn money, supported my wife as she became a partner in her own dental practice. Now she supports me as I try to feed my soul. Was it worth it? I don’t know. But I need to create.

A painting of Taylor Swift presented as a bard in a fantasy setting. She is dressed in a blue gown and playing a lute, sitting by a window. Through the window, in the distance can be seen the towers of a castle.

Thanks for the #artshare. Working on this painting (acrylic on canvas) of Dunottar Castle in Scotland. I'm quite pleased with how the sky and sea are turning out. Still a lot of work to do on the castle and the foreground of the painting, but its getting there.

Love Rothesay Castle. I was there in heavy rain once & thought it was haunted as it looked like there was blood running down the walls. Afterwards we asked one of the staff about it and they told us that in very heavy rain sometimes the porous stone soaks up water and it comes out with a red tinge.🤷

Rob of Wonder @robofwonder.bsky.social · 17/12/2024

I've painted 3 of those (Brodick, Stalker, Dunvegan) and am currently painting 3 of the others (Culzean, Dunottar, Eilean Donan)!

Painting of Brodick Castle, a grand, historic building with a warm yellow-toned stone facade, featuring multiple towers and arched windows. The castle stands majestically on a hill overlooking a lush green garden with a wooden bench and vibrant purple flowers. The cloudy sky adds a sense of drama to the scene.

A painting of Castle Stalker, a historic tower house on a small tidal island in Loch Linnhe, Scotland. The castle is depicted with a golden hue, standing out against a misty, gray background. The surrounding landscape is a mix of water and land, suggesting the tidal nature of the island.

Painting of Dunvegan Castle, a large, historic stone castle perched on a rocky cliff overlooking a lush green landscape. The castle features a central tower and multiple smaller turrets, creating a dramatic and imposing silhouette. The warm, golden tones of the stone contrast with the cool green of the landscape, creating a sense of warmth and tranquility.

An anthropomorphic spider standing on two legs and with a colorful sarong trailing behind. The background is a colorful swirl of reds blues and greens with yellow and orange highlights.

An anthropomorphic insectoid creature carrying a backpack and wearing a tattered cape. Its carapace is crossed with leather straps for attaching equipment to and it carries a torch, the staff of which is as tall as itself. It has large orange eyes, lengthy claw like fingers and long curving antenna extending from its forehead. The green background suggests a forest or jungle setting.

Thanks for the #ArtShare! I'm Rob I run eyewonderartistry.com from Pfafftown, NC, creating art through visual art, writing, games, collaborative storytelling and music. My usual medium is acrylic on canvas or card, but I've been playing with layering mixed media recently. #art #artsky #artist #ttrpg

'Elf Portrait'. Mixed media, Acrylic on Paper & Digital Photography. Framed picture of an elf carrying a spear on his back. He wears a light green cloak over a dark green tunic. The cloak is fastened at the neck with a golden brooch housing a blue gemstone. The background is a black and white photographic image of a forest. The tip of the spear sits in front of the matting of the picture, giving a minor 3D effect to the image.

'Six Layer Hedge Row'. Mixed Media. From front to back the layers are: 1. Cutouts of Acrylic on Paper (Hedgehogs). 2. Cutout of a Sketch on Paper (Castle). 3. Cutout of a digital photograph of a desert (land foreground. 4. Cutout from misprint rescued from recycling bin at FedEx/Kinkos, original image unknown ("rocks"). 5. Cutout from silhouette of digital photo of Ailsa Craig, Scotland printed on card and colored black with Sharpie. 6. Watercolors on paper (Sky).

The picture shows two colorful anthropomorphic hedgehogs in fantsay adventurer gear, one a spellcaster and the other a warrior. They stand in front of a castle tower. The castle is built in a rocky desert landscape with a distant mountain silhouetted against a colorful sky at sunset, dominated by shades of orange, blue, and purple. The castle and one of the hedgehogs overlap the matting of the picture, giving a minor 3D effect to the picture. It is framed with an oak coloed frame.

A portrait (Acrylic on canvas) of a half-elf. There are touches of grey and black in his light brown hair and beard. He has piercing blue eyes and the tell-tale pointed ears of his elven heritage.

A portrait of a bard (Acrylic on canvas). With hints of a Scottish heritage, this bard has black hair and beard and wears an orange coat over a blue vest, white shirt and black tie. His beret style hat has a golden thistle emblem on the front. His eyes are a dark brown, practically black. The background is out of focus but appears to be a beach on a lake with distant trees.

I'm a little discouraged today. Did an Arts Fair last night and people came by and were complimentary about my work, but I only sold 1 sticker. 🙁 A lot of us are struggling, I know, but last night was a low point. I did sell this one based on a local landmark last month though! #art #artlife #artsky

Botticelli's 'Birth of Venus'. A classical painting depicting the mythological birth of Venus, the goddess of love. Venus, nude and ethereal, stands on a giant seashell in the center of the composition, her long, flowing hair cascading down. She is surrounded by sea foam, and the soft ripples of the water highlight her graceful posture. To the left, the wind god, Zephyrus, blows a gentle breeze, carrying a nymph, Chloris, who scatters flowers toward Venus. On the right, a female figure drapes a cloth over Venus, symbolizing modesty. The scene is set against a serene backdrop with soft pastel tones of blue, pink, and gold, evoking a sense of beauty and harmony.
