excerpt from a work in progress Deadlock fanfic:

“You’re not the first guy to ask. Is there something about my face that says I’d love to whip it out and use you as a urinal?”

Lash snickers. “I love when you talk dirty.”

“That wasn’t—” With a grunt of frustration, Pocket cuts themself off. “You didn’t answer the question.”

“Oh my God, babe.” He has no right to sound so exasperated with them. He’s the one asking for something disgusting. “No, it’s not you. It’s fine. It’s pretty normal.”

“Normal.”

“Yeah, after your boring vanilla sh— I mean very fun and awesome fucking without the bells and whistles,” Lash quickly course corrects, “there’s, like, a top five things people are into. You’ve got handcuffs, spanking, some feet stuff I guess, maybe a little roleplay with a teacher-student thing or wanting to fuck your boss, and then, boosh, there’s the golden shower.”

“That cannot be true.”

“Fine. Call the Lash a liar. I see how it is.”

snippet from an in-progress Deadlock fanfic:

“Whatcha got there, Bluey?” comes an infuriating voice.

“None of your business,” Abrams says, exhaustion bleeding through every syllable.

“Don’t be a sore loser,” Lash chides. Then he bends down until he’s eye to eye with Pocket. “Oh my God, is this your homeless teammate? Why are they small?”

Before Abrams can answer, Pocket takes the opportunity to lecture him again. “Because someone bought that stupid—”

“Oh my God,” Lash says again, following on the heels of his very stupid laugh. “What’s wrong with your voice? Oh, that’s so cute. Tiny widdle bwiefcase,” he says, “and the widdle twenchcoat and the widdle shotgun.” He pats their head with a single finger, which is still way too much force.

“The widdle shotgun still hits the same, and now you have no Patron to protect you,” Pocket says, well aware that their threat is somewhat mitigated by how adorably small they are. Lash responds to that by simply plucking the shotgun out of their grip with the strength of a giant. “Hey!”

excerpt from a WIP Deadlock fanfic:

Lash gives them time to protest or push back, but all they do is stare up at him wide-eyed, pink-cheeked, lips parted like they’re ready for him. He leans in with intent, feels the moment their breath stutters.

Then they’re pressing fingers against his mouth to stop him only inches from their flushed face. They’re so close he can hear when they swallow down their nerves. “I don’t think that’s a good idea.” Their gaze darts from his eyes to his mouth and back. “It’s not a no,” they say quickly, trying and failing to sound less flustered. “Think of it as, you know, an incentive. A way to celebrate if we win.”

Lash laughs, pulling their hand away from his mouth. “And you say I have a big ego?”

“Excuse me?” they sputter.

“Going on and on about how this Ritual is supposed to change our entire lives, then acting like kissing you is the real prize?”

“Oh my God, I did not mean it like that,” Pocket says, and the red in their face suddenly deepens well beyond the flattering shade from before.

Excerpt from a Deadlock fanfic:

Pocket ends this glorious push with a whimper of pain. So much for that burst of confidence. They try to stand, but they can’t put weight on the leg. Their stumble should drop them face first on the pavement. Instead a strong pair of hands grabs them.
“The Lash has to do everything around here,” he says, slinging Pocket into his arms like they weigh all of five pounds.
“Ow,” they mutter when it jostles their injured leg. They don’t fight the general situation though; what point is there? They can’t walk yet.
What they did not consider was what it might feel like to be cradled against Lash’s… generous… chest, or to feel his huge arms around them. They glance up, but he’s mostly chin and mustache from here — from a lot of angles, really — which helps temper the rising heat in their cheeks. As soon as their leg heals, they are going to do everything in their power to wipe this moment from their mind.
In the meantime, they’re curious. “Why are you helping me?”
“The Lash can’t resist a damsel in distress,” he says like it’s obvious.
“I’m not— never mind.”
