Jarenlang werd ons verteld dat Rusland alleen de Donbas wilde. Daarna bleek het om de landbrug naar de Krim te gaan. Vervolgens om "Novorossiya". Deze slide bevestigt wat velen al jaren zeggen: voor grote delen van de Russische elite is heel Oekraïne het einddoel, niet slechts de Donbas.

Poetin heeft de gevangenenruil van 1.000 tegen 1.000 afgewezen. De gevangenenruil was een voorwaarde voor het staakt-het-vuren – en daarmee ook voor de toezegging van Oekraïne om de parade in Moskou niet aan te vallen. De parade is voorbij, en nogmaals blijkt dat Putin's beloften niks waard zijn.

Ik weet niet of Thomas Erdbrink naïef is of bewust meewerkt aan een narratief, maar uiteindelijk maakt dat weinig uit, want het effect is hetzelfde. Rusland is al jaren bezig zijn propagandastrategie te verfijnen en begrijpt steeds beter wat in het Westen werkt.

De #Russen gaven beelden vrij van hun soldaten die terugkeerden uitb Oekraïnse gevangenschap. Goed doorvoed stapten ze snel in de bus. Oekraïense soldaten komen uitgeteerd en gemarteld terug met dystrofie, onbehandelde breuken en wonden, ontstekingen en talloze aandoeningen aan allerlei organen.

Dit was Kyiv afgelopen nacht urenlang. Rusland is de Shahed productie alleen maar verder aan het opschroeven met mogelijk eind dit jaar 500 per dag. De steun aan Oekraïne, sancties en de defensie opschaling gaan nog altijd veel te traag.
