A lovely review of my family history And The Cello Came Too in the latest Times Literary Supplement. It calls it a 'meticulous, affectionate book' and a 'record of discovery.' Link in comments below, but it is behind a paywall.

Disturbing questions of identity
We are at risk of slithering into a terrifying abyss where to qualify for full citizenship we will first need to prove our ethnic and racial purity.

I'm afraid it isn't available in audio, much to my regret. My more recently-published family history, And The Cello Came Too, is, however.

Israel & genocide: the debate continues ...
The nub of the issue: Is an inference of Israel’s genocidal intent in Gaza and the West Bank the only one reasonable on all the evidence taken together?

The true meaning of genocide
Israel has made its intentions abundantly clear: to destroy, once and for all, any remote possibility that the Palestinians will ever be able to establish a viable nation of their own.

Very sad to learn that Radio 4's The World Tonight is to be killed off. It has a long and honourable history as one of the more thoughtful BBC news programmes and I am proud to have been associated with it for more than twenty years. But as from next April, it will be no more.
