3D > 2D If you can't hold it, it's not real. Don't let other people construct a false reality around you. Buy physical things: records & Cds, DVDs & blu-rays. Stop renting entertainment that can change overnight. Best part, physical media is super cheap right now.

It's about to get a lot worse. Pass a petrol station, look at the price. That is the lowest it is ever going to be. Now look at the price of diesel. Diesel transports our food, our imports, our fuel. When that goes up, the cost of *everything* goes up. The only thing that doesn't go up is wages.

Aldi Oktoberfest special German Pilsner Beer crisps taste surprisingly like light fizzy pilsner! 5/5 for flavour
a (now empty) packet of Aldi's own brand German Pilsner flavour ridge cut crisps.

the picture on the packet depicts only the crisps themselves - not a bottle of pilsner in sight.

I know this is for visually impaired but I need to take a moment to talk about the flavour - they taste light, refreshing and slightly fizzy. A staggering achievement in mouthfeel.

I don't know how they do it. I might have to sample another packet to find out

I am unapologetically socialist and believe in People over Power every time. We cannot be reduced down to economic units - no matter what the government says. We all deserve a life worth living and a world worth living in.

I believe that we are strongest when our community is strong, at our most resilient when we are standing side-by-side with one another and that ultimately that we can live in a caring and supportive community that works for everyone.

The only measure that Aldi's MUMBAI MAD BOY beats Pot Noodle's BOMBAY BAD BOY is on the name. That's it. No comparison really and even the BBB doesn't compare with the one I once ate that came with second sachet of hot sauce 🔥❤️‍🔥
A rip off pot noodle - credit to Aldi for coming up with a good pun for its name: MUMBAI MAD BOY - otherwise it is much of a muchness. Picture shows a hand holding a large plastic container, labelled: Bramwells Express, MEGA Snack noodles, Mumbai Mad Boy flavour. The container label is red and features recurring Taj Mahal, forks, water waves and camel / elepant motifs as if that somehow makes it Indian.

I'd accuse it of cultural appropriation but there is nothing cultural about this - except maybe the bacteria taking a ride on the Ramen.

“The greatest trick the fossil fuel industry ever pulled was convincing us all that it was all our fault” www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
British Petroleum, the second largest non-state owned oil company in the world, with 18,700 gas and service stations worldwide, hired the public relations professionals Ogilvy & Mather to promote the slant that climate change is not the fault of an oil giant, but that of individuals. It’s here that British Petroleum, or BP, first promoted and soon successfully popularized the term “carbon footprint” in the early aughts. The company unveiled its “carbon footprint calculator” in 2004 so one could assess how their normal daily life – going to work, buying food, and (gasp) traveling – is largely responsible for heating the globe.

Labour's win in Manchester makes a really solid case for PR. Labour would have won under FTPT but did far better under PR (well a form of PR). What's more, they have a greater share of the voting electorate who can say that they voted Labour. This is how you can begin to rebuild trust in politics.
Very complex chart showing first and second preference votes for Labour. First votes indicate a comfortable win with a further fifth of votes being added to that through second preference votes.

Proportional Representation is just a generally fairer way of voting as more people get a stake in the outcome and it's less like betting on a horse race or picking your favourite colour.

Hot Take of the day: The massive drive behind AI and specifically the building of data centres is another front on the campaign by fossil fuel companies to lock the human race into oil dependence for a generation.
Estimated electricity demand from data centres globally in 2023 and 2030, according to scenarios laid out by a range of analysts. Some scenarios have been extrapolated one or two years forward or backwards so that they cover the same timescale. The Liebreich Associates scenario is approximate, based on estimates of % total electricity demand. Two middle aged white men stand behind a table with a green table cloth and copies of the Green Party Workers Charter. Both are wearing shades of Green. The man on the left is wearing a black t-shirt with Greens Organise on it.

The Green Party Workers Charter has three broad aims:

* Higher Pay - £15 minimum wage, increase in public sector pay, 1:10 pay ratio between the lowest and highest paid workers

* strong rights - worker equality, better work/life balance, AI justice

* collective power - implementation and expansion of the Workers Rights Act, scrapping all anti union and anti strike laws since 1979

Thought for the day: thought for an entire life.
A snapshot from a website, there is a quoted block of text that reads:

“Everyday Solidarity"
We cannot carry the entire weight of [the world], nor of the violence that tries to erase her.

We can keep showing up in small, deliberate ways. We can return to the simple actions that don't solve everything, but soften the edges of abandonment. We can build habits that keep people in view, even when institutions and headlines look away.

Advocacy, like care, is not measured in intensity, or heroism. It is measured in consistency — in what we choose to do again, and again, and again.

These are the small practices, and they are the ones that hold.

— Amina Mukhtar, founder of Greens for Sudan
