Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 05/02/2026Moodboard for my latest project. Speculative historical fiction, multi-POV, dual timelines. When a bookshop sends a woman to 1934, she must confront her grandmother's fascist past, opinionated ghosts, and shifting history to save her family from an authoritarian regime intent on erasing them. 050
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 17/09/2025Despite my nerves, I had fun at a reading event with @doorisajarmag.bsky.social last night. I read my short non-fiction piece, Thunk, and enjoyed listening to the other contributors. Will post the video link soon! 1244

Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 10/06/2025I attended the magnificent launch of A Most Puzzling Murder by Bianca Marais last night. To be surrounded by so many book lovers was a remarkable experience. Congratulations to everyone for a fabulous event. Go get your copy! I'm starting mine today. 080
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 19/03/2025New writers appreciate support. Some of us also appreciate Sam Heughan, but that's a separate thing altogether. 0340
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 23/02/2025Any other writers get warm fuzzies reading the endings of your own books? 031
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 11/02/2025Now, more than ever, we need stories to make sense of the world. 0112
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 27/01/2025Which is better: saving the day or not caring about being labeled a "bitch"? 130
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 22/01/2025My WIP is inspired by the life of my grandmother, who joined the BUF in the 30s. She was so ashamed that she never spoke of it. As I edit my manuscript, I wish I could ask her about the seduction of extreme thinking. Photo from a video of a BUF march. She is wearing a white shirt. 050
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 19/01/2025Kind of like life. One of these days, I'll get it right. 1130
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 17/01/2025An old quote that probably rings even truer today. My grandmother often saw Huxley checking out his sales at bookshops in 1930s London. Unfortunately, she never approached him or I might be in possession of a first edition signed copy of Brave New World. Sigh. 2633
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 15/01/2025Take a trip with me this month to Nova Scotia in 1816. I'm reading The Third Wife of Faraday House by B.R. Myers, which tells the story of Emeline, whose new husband's previous wife might not be quite as dead as she's been told. Highly recommend! 090
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 14/01/2025I realized recently that both my book on submission and my WIP center around intergenerational trauma, redemption, and women discovering their strengths. Oh, and time travel. Gotta have that. 050
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 02/01/2025Anyone else returning to work with difficulty? 2230
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 02/01/2025Watched this fascinating documentary as part of research for my WIP. This quote stood out. "Each one hopes that if he feeds the crocodile enough, the crocodile will eat him last." I recommend watching this for a quick overview of how close the outcome of the war was (part of my WIP's premise). 021
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 23/12/2024It's been an eventful year for me. This time last year, I was just starting the first chapter of my novel that is currently on submission (seems like years ago). I am now close to completing the first draft of book 4. Bring on 2025! 261
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 21/12/2024Holidays have begun, which means more writing time. Researching Oscar Wilde quotes this morning for my WIP. 1100
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 18/12/2024This has been the highlight of my day. Granted, I didn't leave the house today. 0121
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 13/12/2024I'm over halfway through the first draft of my WIP and need to plot the end before I continue. This is my starting point. Sprinkle some fairy writing dust my way. Heck, throw it in handfuls. 1100
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 06/12/2024Just joking, of course. Or mainly joking. Kind of. 2130
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 05/12/2024You know what the new rug is missing? That pungent dog smell. 0130
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 03/12/2024Wicked was truly awesome. Happy to report I started the audience cheering at the end. I'm sure Ariana and Cynthia appreciated it. 040
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 01/12/2024No one in my family is on Bluesky, so I thought I'd show today's Christmas present purchases. 2160
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 01/12/2024Can't wait to share my book (on sub). Target audience? Are you a mother or a daughter? Ever discover a family secret (or kept one). Deeply regret something? Had a parent with addictions (& another who enabled it)? Ever wished for a vacation to your past? If so, you'll likely love SKIPPING STONES. 090
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 30/11/2024Cat house for our cat who would prefer to be outside all night. 100
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 28/11/2024Loving this book! Highly recommend! For context, I regularly read books while walking my dog down the road. 120
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 22/11/2024Several months ago, hubbie and I held a charity event with proceeds to our SPCA. Today we donated $700 & visited the kitties afterwards. This sweetie is 12 y.o. and was surrendered after her elderly owner passed away. Sniff. If she's still there in a couple weeks, I guess we'll have another cat. 280
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 18/11/2024If anyone wants to add me to a writerly #starterpack, that would be great. I follow back all writers and readers regardless of genre or what you had for breakfast. Happy reading and writing! 040
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 17/11/2024Highly recommend this podcast for writers. 5/5 open.spotify.com/show/5xltrCp... 020
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 16/11/2024If you're thinking of moving to Nova Scotia, please be advised that your Christmas turkey might show up on your doorstep uninvited. 491
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 15/11/2024An addiction to reading isn't a problem in my book (pun intended). On the other hand, my protagonist's father is an alcoholic, her sister is a drug addict, and my protag. herself is addicted to time travel, but she doesn't think it's a problem. Do your characters fail to see their own shortcomings? 010
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 09/11/2024Which if these writing craft books would you listen to on Audible? I have two credits that need spending. Already read: Save The Cat and On Writing. 000
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 08/11/2024Rx for this weekend: a good book. I'm reading Liane Moriarty's The Husband's Secret. 020
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 04/11/2024Teacup from my lovely mom who said it looked like something an author's might have. Thank goodness for sweet moms who believe in us. 120
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 25/10/2024Are there celebrities in your books? For my manuscript currently on sub, Sarah Jessica Parker plays a cameo (so much fun to write). Also mentioned are Suzanne Somers, Taylor Swift, Jane Austen, Alanis Morrisette, and my two cats, Gracie and Tuppence. Hoping they will be just as famous soon. 010
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 22/10/2024Which books have comforted or taught you something recently? 000
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 21/10/2024More importantly, the authors would adore your book and would write glowing reviews. Do you have anyone in mind? 000
Robin Brooks @robinbrooks.bsky.social · 20/10/2024Jasper wants you all to know that he is going to stare at you until you get back writing. 030
