I love it when my MC decides to be a sarcastic ass 😂 This is from "Aren't We All Invisible?" in my horror short story collection: Sex, Murder, & Other Pleasures (aka my VERY in-progress WIP) #writingcommunity 🩸📚 | 💙📚 | 🌶️📚
“See! Everyone is gone!” she said.
“Sure, they are. It’s Saturday,” I said.
Shay’s fingers tightened around mine. “No! Well, yes but no. They’re gone. You know, gone gone. As in not around anymore.”
“Like dead?” I asked.
“Jesus, no! I mean, gone!” she persisted.
I swung my head back and forth, gaze sweeping across the still road, looking for the people who were gone.

Editing an older story before work (just to get back into writing) and this DESCRIPTION. Maybe I'm just sleepy but it is CRACKING ME UP. What was I on and where can I get more? 😂
A screen shot of a black background with white text. The first sentence is highlighted in yellow.
The passage reads:
The last man, dark-haired and about my age with a sharp jaw and an ale-gut, was harder to gauge. I gave up early on as the man, his plays ranging from conservative to reckless and yet only ever gaining or losing the exact amount in a way that was almost unnatural.

The Dragon's Emissary: A mage with unstable magic meets a bard who makes her feel even more unstable (in the best way) Together, can they help the mage rid herself of her magic?✨ (*whispers* it also has queer characters, just so you know 🌈 😉)
A picture of the book cover for The Dragon's Emissary by Robin Arnette. At it's center are two figures the shorter one is Zelnor, a bearded character wearing shabby clothes with pointed ears, and the taller one is Erianna, a blue woman with purple hair, elf ears, fitted leather armor, a blue dress and a backpack. They are standing in a cave with a small pool in front of them.
Zelnor is looking grumpily at Erianna while accidentally casting a fire spell. There is a ring of dots around his waist. Erianna has her elbow resting on his head and is shooting him a flirty, bemused look.
The title, The Dragon's Emissary, is written in shiny gold across the top. An opalescent swirl is behind it. At the bottom is the author's name: Robin Arnette. Beneath that is another opalescent swirl around the number 1 (indicating this is the first book in a series). The series title, Legend of the Fragmentum, is beneath that, written in gold.

In The Dragon's Emissary: Zelnor would dress up as a famous historical figure. Maybe the healer Aithlin Daeyarus? Erianna would dress like Zelnor. (She'd think it was hilarious) Lyle would dress as a flower (if he could but he's a ghost) #Spooktober

Black text on a white background. This is a snippet from Robin Arnette's The Dragon's Emissary.
It says:
Erianna plopped onto the ground for a rest and a quick meal. The salt-cured meat stung the inside of her cheeks. Her throat was raw with thirst.
The journey only got worse from there. Her head started throbbing and her mouth felt drier than parchment. The scratch on her neck burned, and at some point, it had started bleeding again. And through all of it, there was the heat. The intolerable, inescapable fire was cooking her alive.

“Your friend,” Zelnor said the word as though it tasted sour, “should be there.”
“You don’t have to be jealous,” Erianna laughed. “He’s like an older brother to me.”
“I’m not jealous,” Zelnor said.
Zelnor was almost too easy to mess with. She smirked, leaning her head close to Zelnor.
“Of course not. But I’m just saying,” Erianna whispered, “I’d understand if you were.”
“I’m not,” the mage said, shoving her head away.
“All right, sure,” Erianna said. “Not jealous.”
“She seemed a little jealous,” Lyle stage-whispered.
“Lyle!” Zelnor squeaked.
Erianna and Lyle burst out laughing. It took the two a while to get ahold of themselves again. Several snooty looking people glared at Erianna as they passed, but she ignored them, basking in the half-elf’s flustered annoyance. Finally, Lyle turned his wide, pleading eyes on Erianna.

So um... BINGO... And change 😂 Here's the filled out bingo card, and a snippet for "A book with a dragon." Surprisingly (considering my book is named, The Dragon's Emissary) the dragon doesn't feature as much. Trust me, though, Torrin is VERY important to the series! 💙📚🪐🌈🌶️ #writingcommunity
Robin Arnette's marked version of the blank bingo card from the quoted post. This is for her book, The Dragon's Emissary.
The top row is bingo, and each of the squares that apply to her book are marked with yellow stars (except "There's blood" which is marked with a red star). Some of them have extra stars because there's a lot of it or it applies to multiple characters.
Here's a list of all the squares that apply to The Dragon's Emissary:
-There are tears shed
-Steamy scenes
-A character needs a hug
-Eye color description
-A book with a dragon
(a line and the word "BINGO" is written across those top of the five she's listed so far. The rest are just listed in left to right, top to bottom)
-Own voices, bipoc, or LBGTQIA+ rep
-There's blood
-There's a lot of smiling
-Free Space
-Character returns home
-Not set in our world
-First in a series
-Multi-POV (three stars for three different POVs)
-Features a love story
-Non-human protagonist (Erianna who is an ishlanian--basically a semi-aquatic elf)
-Wrote 5+ drafts (has seven stars representing seven different drafts)Black text on a white background. This is a description of the dragon Torrin in The Dragon's Emissary. The text reads:
A soft rumbling filled what sounded like an enormous cavern. The heat had reached a temperature that could rival midday in Kialma’keer. Zelnor’s hair flew away from her face. The subtle breeze had grown into a wind that rushed forward and retracted rhythmically in a steady push and pull that reminded Zelnor of the ocean. Whenever the wind receded, it left a slight chill in the air.

“Ha! Wish someone would tell him that,” CENSORED scoffed. “Anyway. I needed a new plan. And that’s when I ran into this strange ishlanian named Otto.”
Erianna would have accused CENSORED of exaggerating, but even CENSORED couldn’t make up someone so peculiar. According to CENSORED, Otto was an ishlanian man with ram’s horns, and as strange as his appearance was, his mannerisms were apparently even stranger. He had spoken as though he were the protagonist in an adventure novel, proclaiming that he would right the wrongs committed against CENSORED. Amused by his antics and lacking better options, CENSORED had hired Otto to occupy CENSORED.
“He promised me that he specialized in distractions,” CENSORED said.

Apologies for clogging up the tag with a backlog post, but I REALLY wanted to participate in yesterdays prompt (but I was having a rough day, so I didn't) Anyway! Here's the beginning of The Dragon's Emissary for Day 7 of #FantasyIndiesJuly: First Line of WIP 💙📚🪐🌈🌶️
Black text on a white background. This from the PDF proof of the beginning of The Dragon's Emissary by Robin Arnette. The Z is a drop cap in a different font than the rest, so it looks fancy. The text reads:
"Zelnor shifted one of the wooden beams up and stepped inside the crumbling cottage. The scent of ash still lingered in the air, bitter on her tongue. She pressed her fingers into her eyelids."

Well The Dragon's Emissary doesn't have a TON of animal friends unfortunately... The closest I can think of is a cathmal named Eli. Cathmals are basically a mix of a camel and a panther 🐪🐾 They're very common in Kialma'keer. Zelnor helped raise Eli when he was a cub #FantasyIndiesJuly 💙📚🪐🌈🌶️

Drop Line 8 from Page 187 of your MS and tag 3 friends! This excerpt is from ✨The Dragon's Emissary✨ releasing (late) this summer! This part is actually from one of my favorite scenes in the whole book 🥰 @kaylynx.bsky.social @90sinspiredink.bsky.social @audconnelly.bsky.social 💙📚🪐🌈🌶️ #writesky
“Ask me a question, and I’ll answer it,” Erianna said.
She scooted closer, so she wouldn’t need to yell over the roaring waterfall. She wouldn’t apologize for her choices, but she was willing to present a peace offering. In their short time together, she’d learned that knowledge was the one thing Zelnor couldn’t resist.

#FantasyIndiesJuly Why are you making me choose between my children 😭 MCs are probably my fav... But a truly flamboyant, over the top villain will always capture my heart. If they're showy and extra (and/or super evil) they've automatically endeared themselves to me 🥰

It's made from Rhubarb which is (technically) a type of vegetable. It's very bitter and has a vivid red color. I've rarely seen it used other than in Rhubarb pie Heres some pictures of what the vegetables and the pie look like:

I really like the last line of 🎇The Dragon's Emissary🎇 The story begins with Zelnor's POV and ends in Erianna's and to me, it really highlights how much Erianna has changed from first their meeting. Plus endings are SO hard, so I'm proud of myself for a pretty good one #LGBTQWriteAThon 💙📚🪐|🌈📚
A screenshot of black text on a white background. This is a quote from the very end of The Dragon's Emissary by Robin Arnette.
The text reads:
Thankfully, that choice was still a long way off. Between the Broken Claim, the High Mage, and Torrin, they still had plenty of excitement and danger ahead of them, and Erianna would be damned if she wouldn’t enjoy every moment they had left.

I have a LOT of cute Skye puppy pics but sadly, I don't have any of Lucy as a puppy. We adopted her when she was already grown. So here's a couple pics of young Skye and Lucy together 🥰
Two dogs on a blanket. One is a Westie puppy, Skye, staring at the other, which is a cute girly with cream/white wavy fur and floppy ears named Lucy. Lucy is facing away from the camera, staring back at SkyeA pic of two dogs standing next to a couch and staring at the camera. One is Skye, a Westie puppy (she's standing closer) and the other is Lucy, a mix breed (white with slightly curly fur and floppy ears) with her tongue sticking out a little.

Post a picture of when your pet was little.
A picture of a young Westie puppy (her name is Skye) on a gray couch with her large paws over the arm. Her ears are mostly upright but the left is a little floppy. There is a playpen with a filled dog food bowl, a dog bed, and a bowl in the background.

Okay, but mine is an extra layer of bad, because I've literally never made a moodboard, and I'm not into moodboards, and also this isn't even a real moodboard. It tells you NOTHING about my book Also. The portraits are by Alina Lalik lol #LGBTQWriteAThon 💙📚🪐|🌈📚
A "moodboard" for The Dragon's Emissary. It's not really a moodboard, because it uses the official commissioned art for the characters Zelnor, Erianna, and Lyle, and tells you absolutely NOTHING about the book. The pictures have been altered by dumb filters in a word processor so they're bad looking. In the background is a crudely drawn map of the continent of Eltun (Robin Arnette drew it). It also has the letter's G A Y written vertically in white with a blue interior shadow down the left, and the word "MAGIC" written in rainbow letters and distorted.
