I've experienced this with firms that were (ostensibly) FSA regulated, seen sharp practice that I knew was illegal. I cannot fathom how people think they aren't being stitched up on crypto platforms, would never leave an order up and trust it to be executed fairly.

She's not that different to Boris in terms of not having much idea of the detail. But he was far better at diverting the narrative in this type of situation. Eton Debating Soc and Oxford Union taught him to sidestep/distract when caught out, that tactic seems to escape her, doesn't think fast enough

Part of the reason state pension has outpaced average earnings by a lot recently is that when you get a year with very high inflation, then a year with high average earnings increase, triple lock picks up both as a mega bonus. But the earnings increase was likely a response to the high inflation.

Rob M-Y @robidoo99.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
No, but I think you'd be in the majority who think that! The proposal is to keep the triple lock, but smooth the earnings part. IFS analysis with retrospective modelling here: ifs.org.uk/articles/how...

How will the new triple lock work and what effects will it have? | Institute for Fiscal Studies
Prime Minister Andy Burnham has announced a major and welcome change to the triple lock, which will come into effect in 2030–31.

Whenever inflation drops to <2.5% state pension increases faster than cost of living. In real terms, state pension will continue to increase under new triple lock (the earnings part isn't even being dropped, just tweaked slightly - it's actually still a triple lock)

Rob M-Y @robidoo99.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
IFS "new triple lock still leads to increases in the real value of the state pension over time, just not quite as fast as it would have under the old triple lock" This doesn't sound like a long term fix, still ends up costing more than we can afford. But it's a start! (If it happens...)

I believe selling assets to pay for *residential* care would still be the norm under these proposals. Some are misreading what's being put forward, National Care Service not intended for people with assets to have all their care home fees covered. But it's still a huge change and I'm in favour.

Maximum wait time is up to 90 seconds at some locations, that 28 seconds is not universal. Round my way the council have set them all much longer, I regularly wait over a minute if no gaps in traffic.

All the ones round me are timed to turn red only when there's nothing coming. To maintain traffic flow apparently. I still press the button anyway, absolute nonsense pedestrians waiting to cross while cars half a mile away on the button press still get priority when they eventually reach same spot.

If the 10yr bonus is only given to them, they might see that as a shrewd investment. When it accrues to everyone, they might see that as a tax and then want to find ways that someone else could pay for it instead. Some only want to turn wealth into privilege, not interested in collectively helping

You can ring the bell of any bike that's visible on the app. I think it's more to help locate a bike that is showing as nearby but maybe stashed behind a wall or similar, they've cut numbers so low in my area that some users try to hide them for next trip.

Disappointed that the Alt text doesn't mention the area under their armpit that looks like their fur/snow was shaved for a fairly massive operation. Maybe there's a sedative in the drink, and when you wake up you're the one wearing the snowman costume? Minus some major organs, naturally.

I think you are underestimating the UK voter's appetite for comedy here, there will be Clacton people voting Binface who never vote in another GE. I suspect Farage still survives, but more like 40% Binface

But YT very addictive and algorithm enhances that. Society is hooked on the internet in general. Banning certain apps/platforms/infinite scroll will never solve this, just switch user attention to something equally mind numbing. Social media has more dangerous cultural effects than Candy Crush tho.

Kinda think Youtube already cleaned up its act ages ago. Sure it's not perfect, there's always going to be plenty of barking mad nutters/undesirable behaviour/brainrot on there but the stuff I'm thinking of doesn't meet threshold for "harmful to children" Reddit also age gated NSFW content since OSA

Full briefing for More In Common polling suggests weaker support for banning eg Youtube/Reddit to u16s. My view is that device addiction in all age groups is way bigger problem. I expect most parents will facilitate 13-16yo watching Youtube regardless. Well intentioned but poorly thought out policy.

To do a proper, independent report would likely take longer. But that's not the goal here is it. The IOPC will produce the report that the govt needs, think it's more a question of how fast is too fast? Every stage of this will lead to more questions, blame placed on wrong politicians, as usual.

They're petrified of being seen to change the voting system the moment it has turned against them, and being punished for that at next GE. They're also hoping/praying everything will somehow swing back in their favour over time. Switching to PR is (in their eyes) like giving up the fight.

The trend in 11-16 year olds to be taken 1-2 miles by car (switching from walk/bus/cycle) is the most concerning bit for me. Are some children becoming more isolated, so fewer friends to go with? Think that can impact parents' decision in terms of safety. That effect would be self perpetuating too

Same here, it's quite a faff to extract footage and submit and I've now got the impression West Mids police don't bother. Had someone overtake our car on a 40mph country road at ~90mph, as we were going past a side turning - never heard anything back. That driver shouldn't be on the road.

Strava race predictions only work if your heart rate data (max/threshold) is set correctly and your HR monitor gives good data. If monitor is on back of watch, it's likely that data is noisy/poor quality. I use armband HR monitor (Polar/Coros will pair to your Garmin watch)

UK bookies quite slow to react to this, main move was on Betfair around 9-10am. Massive arbs for hours, thousands on exchanges looking to back Greens in to 1.40ish (4/6 widely available with most books) Whoever it was not fussed about price, must have it good bit shorter. Private polling maybe

Printing odds of 20-5 and 25-5 is also a serious offence, if you could add that to your complaint. As well as explaining how none of the bookmakers price anything, they sit just below the betfair exchange offer. And that nobody with an IQ>70 would get a bet on with them. Thanks.

Next Tory leader market has Rupert Lowe and Nigel Farage around 6th/7th in the betting. You can almost hear Rory Stewart gasping "I mean, that's quite extraordinary!" while praying Boris (3rd fav) doesn't reanimate. They are so lightweight their voters would struggle to even name shadow ministers

Found the full paper (1989) wasn't that convinced by it. There are so many confounding factors, makes it impossible to neatly separate the effect out. But I definitely think advances in car safety have kept some terrible drivers on the road longer. And bigger cars not good for vulnerable road users.

Attitude was kinda laissez-faire even among the police who often took a softly softly approach rather than fining people. Public safety campaigns (clunk-click) ran for many years and weren't changing behaviours. Another 8 yrs for law to apply to rear seat passengers. And still non existent on buses?

Opposition to mandatory seatbelt laws is my favourite one. Many drivers claimed they could be trapped underwater or in a burning car (yeah sure, we've all been there) and thought they'd have better odds if they'd been catapulted through the windscreen 😂
